Why do Democrats insist on using scare tactics to make their point? Here in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts there was a debate this evening with the four democratic potentials to fill recently deceased Congressman Joseph Moakleys vacated spot. One of the no-names referred to a movement she initiated to prevent the NRA from "flooding our streets with guns". I thought how noble she was being by protecting my children from the evil NRA who apparently was going to give guns away and force people to own them. But then I realized that she was using "Democratic Reasoning". Scare people and they'll vote with you. Ridiculous? No, just Par for the Course with the Democrats and the LIBERAL Media who follows them.

Much the the NRA reasoning that gun regulations or waiting periods mean that we will have to "give up our guns".
Or the accusations that Democrats want to outlaw guns: "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". Nobody is talking about these things, except the NRA. It is just scare tactics designed to insite emotion rather than reason. I do not see the problem with laws demanding trigger locks being sold w/ guns. Just as there are safety regulations for cars, there should be with guns. They not only cause risk for the owners, which IS acceptable, but risk for others, which IS NOT acceptable.

The people who practice this daily on their Network Air Time would be the "distinguished" Mr Gephardt and Senator Tom "Boring" Daschel! Negative and full of scare tactics, plus both think that Congressman Condit did nothing immoral or wrong and certainly didn't stain the House with his lying and cheating! I am hoping we vote a bunch of these characters out of office in 2002 and get people who will restore dignity and character to the office! Charlie

Gee, this is scary as I am agreeing with Unclebill on the gun locks and registration of firearms! I also feel the NRA uses the same scare tactics as the Democrats as was wildly exhibited during the 2000 Presidential race by Al Dead, whoops I meant Al Gore! Charlie

Actually, Uncle, your points are good except that I am not sure they are entirely accurate. For the record, I do not own a gun, nor do I belong to the NRA. I agree with enforcing the EXISTING gun laws before any new laws are enacted. This will provide a sense of consistency, as well as save tax dollars pushing new laws into effect. I have repeatedly heard the NRA agree with existing laws, while at the same time I have indeed heard Liberal outcry's of actually banning firearms. One thing I think we both agree on would be a total ban of assault weapons. They serve no purpose outside of the military.
