Went to the IHOP this AM for my usual meal and when I ordered my eggs over easy I was told that as of 9-1-01 the F.....g FDA will no longer permit eggs to be cooked less than medium. Is this insanity? Has the "protecting the public" excuse reached a point that even the most trivial of personal desires must be controlled by Govt. regulation? Its the same bull...t we were told about smoking cigars in an open stadium. That it would pose a public health risk. What a crock. Gordon

Hey Gordon,Long time no post brother...Say aren't you from the South/Georgia???whats next no biscuts and gravy!!!I agree totally, who the H*ll wants to eat rubber eggs, burgers and steaks anyways. Are you sure it wasn't I-hops idea?I've had it happen myself, what really pissed me off is I ordered "over easy" and wasn't informed until after they had plated all of our orders.I walked out anyway, much to the protest of the manager. But I'm sorry buddy sell that crap to someone else!!!

true, true. it is not ihops idea toby and i stopped eating out in calif a long time ago. we also stopped taking cruises. none of this nonsense takes place in vegas except at a coffee shop at the orleans. they accept cigarettes but not cigars. however their chinese food is so good, i make the choice of eating there. when i am finished, i go right to the cuppaccino bar and wait for toby to pay the check and join me.

Since this is the right board for this, I am sick and tired of the political do gooders telling me what is good for me and what is bad for me! I like to make those decisions myself, and this is one of the main reasons I am not a panty waist Democrat! I think that if you want to eat raw eggs (don't know why anyone would want to) then so be it! Companies are worried about law suits resulting from the slightest little thing, so they pick the areas they can control such as food service! They cannot control it if you slip in parking lot or trip on door, but they can control the food they serve and this is such an injustice to pass off as "good for your health"! Sell it to someone who cares as I believe Drew Carey has the right idea about over legislating our country! I live in California and it is doubly bad here when it comes to "do gooders" caring about our health and well being! Charlie

Hey JJ,
Just haven't been posting for a while.
This particular IHOP is in north Texas and the waitress told me that this is FDA so I assumed it was a National directive rather than State, local, or corporate. Glad to hear that you walked out. I just told em to scramble the damn things.

I just received a large sum of money from Sylvester Stallone. You see, I drank a glass full of raw eggs to complete my "Rocky" training, and I got salminella poisoning. It was Rocky's fault. And the farmer who raised the chicken. And the store who sold the eggs. But not MY fault. At least that's what my Liberal Democrat Lawyer told me!

He must have been an agnostic, since he didn't go after God with the law suit! Charlie
