REBATE?

the biggest surprise for many Americans will be their discovery that Bush's $300 checks are a classic case of what the Libertarian Party has dubbed "rebate and switch." The checks we're now getting from the IRS are not a rebate on taxes we've already paid, but an advance on any refund we expect to get from the IRS after we file our tax returns next April. Let's say, for simplicity's sake, that you're due to get a refund of $300 next year. Instead, though, you'll get zero, since IRS will deduct that $300 Smiling George mailed to you this summer from any refund you're due next year.

Not only that but I heared it cost us around 53 or 56 million to send out the prenotice of the arrival of your check and the dip had to dip into S.S to give us this wonderful (REBATE).

Rick, why don't you give up on GWB for awhile and attack the people endangering the hummingbirds by putting too much sugar in the water mix for them! Their beaks become brittle and break off from too much sugar! Of course, you will blame Bush for that in some way or another! It is getting old! Charlie

Rick, you're wrong on that. It is a REBATE on taxes paid already. What if I don't pay income tax next year? Will I owe my $600 back to Uncle Sam? Time to learn the FACTS, not the Liberal whining lies.

Oh yeah, welcome to our board BJ70. Get a more catchy name or else let us know what to call you. In the meantime we'll just call you "Leftist Freak". Whose numbers did you look at when you discovered that the SS fund was "dipped into"? Is there a bank account with the name "US Social Security"? If so, does it have a warning label on it that says "Do not open unless 80% of the procedes go towards the free-loaders of this once great country" ?? Don't fall into the trap, and PLEASE don't blame the republicans for spending $50MM on the mailings. Wasteful, yes, but a mere teardrop in the ocean called Liberal Waste...

BJLM1970: don't let them get you down. se abla mucho, pero no dice nada. tailgator: i argue and disagree, but i don't whine. i hope you put that $600. aside so when you get billed next april you will be able to return your advance on next years taxes. will you be man enough to admit you were wrong if you are? i will be if i am wrong;. "Is there a bank account with the name "US Social Security"? yes. it's called a trust fund and trust funds are not to be violated. "trust fund: money held in trust by the trustee for the beneficiary." i can lose my license and be prosecuted if i violate the trust account for which i am licensed and bonded.

Rick, sorry to disappoint, but you liberals whine and mewl like a bunch of scared sissies everytime GWB makes a speech or we attempt to right the problems brought on by your "God" and leader, Billy Clinton! Grow up and learn that the Social Security fund is not a locked box as your defeated leader Gore would call it! And no, it will not be stolen by the Republicans to spend on giveaways as the Democrats would do! Like we have said over and over, send the money backn if you are so offended by getting it! Charlie

There is NO trust fund. It started that way but the democrats who have controlled congress for most of the last 60 years couldn't stand to see money and not spend it. Now it's a pay as you go system. - glenn

Wow Rick starts the fire I put gas on the fire and BOOM, Thanks (Tail) for inviting me to the board for open discussion. As for my screen name I guess the simple english alphabet and numerical system have you stumped, public education isn't what it used to be but thats another fire for another day, but(Leftist Freak)thats not catchy at all. How about, now dont get lost GWBFAN, now thats catchy I like it. As for my opinion on the subject I was only pointing out the very obvious fact. This rebate is like putting on pants that you havent wore in a long time and finding 20 bucks (Wow free money, but its always been yours so dont get excited). As for the point of view, well if you dont like it send it back I own my own business and work very hard to keep it running correctly I have an accountant do my taxes and I get back What I put in so I will not receive a check which would not make a huge difference in my day to day life but thanks for the thought it was very nice. GWB is a post turtle!

bjlm1970: i like your style and you are going to make my rants seem like banter. what kind of business did you start by yourself in spite of others telling you not to. i'll bet your wife encouraged you and that was enough to go.

Thanks Rick I live in South Fla and that alone should spark a flame since my vote had to be counted a few times to say the least. Down here the lawn industry is big buisness almost all year since there is really no winter, I opened shop for the repair of commercial lawn equipment and the sale of new equipment, and not the homeowner stuff you pick up at home depot or lowes. These are for the professional lawn man that cuts 6 days a week 8-9 hours a day. There is a huge market for the repair end, lots of demand and little or no supply of good qualified techs to work on the stuff. I did work for a large company for many years and topped out, so next move is to be your own boss. At times its tuff but also very rewarding.

Well. it would seem that living in South Florida, is one reason that you cannot read or at least understand what you read, thus gee golly, "We in South Florida don't like the evil GWB"! That pretty much explains the post! As for Joe (Tailgater) don't get to friendly with the opposition, they will be soliciting you for campaign funds to support some left wing organization or save an endangered insect! Charlie

Man when I stepped into this room I cruched some toes. Living in SoFlo does not make any bit less a person than your self Charlie, but living here not only do I have to put up with the Bush in D.C. but I HIT THE BUSH LOTTO with having to have his brother in my less intelligent state. But thank you for your insite sorry I had a negitive opinion, I know its hard making republicans happy, but I try.((GWB is a post turtle)))

Some good posts, LF (leftist freak)... Keep 'em coming, I think rick was getting tired being the sole torch bearer for the wrong. (if you ain't right, you must be wrong). Rick, do I smell a wager? Tax REBATE vs tax Advance? Money in the bank... But before you waste your hummingbird food allowance answer me this: If it is an "advance" for next tax season, why did only those that paid Income Tax last season get a rebate?

tailgater: irrelevant. they will simply owe the money or have it deducted from any return they expect. bet? you bet. i have won (not misspelled) with jjohnson28 that condit will get reelected inspite of foxcnn. incidentally, why is lori never mentioned. i have asked this question before and i don't see any response. i have your choice of eiher a monte #5, the second best cigar on the planet after THE MONTE "A", and an r&j en cedro, both from an isom.
what is your offer? here or [email protected]. we will both have it in writing in case one of us has to go to judge judy next apr 15. i await your pleasure.
the new chap bjlm1970 would have said "put up or shut up", but i am very polite.

I am sure that our "esteemed" South Florida liberal will enjoy casting a vote for the Manbitch aka Janet Reno! Talk about an ineffective official....she/he wouldn't know a crime if it were committed in front of her/him! Janet was a real do nothing while in office and will really make the South Florida voters very happy, if they can figure out the voting machines! Charlie

Rick, I know you can't get over it but the lori - scarborough is a non story. If there was anything remotely to it Dan (buckwheat) Rather or someother lib
in the media would be drumming this up. THIS IS A NON STORY. A girl dies who happens to work for a congressman. People die. I guess you also want to pursue the V. Foster suicide(murder). Oh I forgot that's a dems/lib/commie scandal.
As for Mr/Mrs/Ms Reno running for Gov. God help you.
But on a bright note he/she/it CAN'T be any worse than he/she/it was at Att. Gen.

if you guys don't like her politics, if you don't like the wyt she handeled her job just say so. he/she, her/him, mr/mrs/ms demean the poster and not the woman, reno. notice how the right resorts to childish name calling, leftest freak, dem/libs/commie, Liberal whining lies, and what ever phrases are parroted. how about, i disagree with you and these are my reasons and here are my sources.

This is really getting hilarious of all the things to say that we are sinking to a level by name calling!!! Ha! Facts, we have facts, not inuendos and made up stories like the "Scarboro" and Lori thing that nobody in the world has ever mentioned but you Rick! I enjoy foiling with you, but don't start playing the poor me card, when you constantly put out posts of bad taste, such as Bush dressed as Hitler! Now send something factual that can be backed by real facts, not Liberal twisted facts! Charlie

LF, have you chosen the charity to which you will deposit your "advance" from the government? Or are you going to give it back to Uncle Sam, since you feel he knows better how to spend your money?

I personnally don't see why so many people(mainly liberals it seems like) are costantly drumming up this whole rebate deal. I pay my taxes like everyone else, but not being as fortunate to have a prospering business like BJ70 or to having had worked my way up the corporate ladder yet I fall into the tax bracket that gets all my money back along with EIC. When this rebate was announced I thought that an extra $300-$600 would be nice...But when I got my letter it stated that since I hadn't paid any taxes in I was not eligible to receive a rebate. I have no problem with that. Why can't we move into some real wasted money...IE SS payments being made to convicts in prison and deceased individuals...not sure of the exact amount but seems like it is in the hundreds of millions. Thats real waste. Todd
