The Rev. Jesse Jackson will make reparations for the past enslavement of blacks his No. 1 issue this fall, an aide to the civil rights leader promised yesterday.
The 59-year-old Mr. Jackson will hold a press conference at the Rainbow/PUSH headquarters in Chicago this morning to announce details of his new campaign.

Reperations for slaves?...umm last time I heard there are not any actual living former slaves anymore. Then again I don't think we should still be paying Japan for making them glow either...they don't pay us for all the lives they took at Pearl Harbor. Sometimes we do things that aren't right morally(slavery, nuking..) but life is not easy and we all make mistakes. Rehashing the past never makes the future better. And yes I feel Rev JJ is delusional.

Jesse Jackson is the single worst enemy to the poor people of color in this great nation. He supresses more minorities than David Duke could ever hope for. He has beaten them to the point that many not only feel that they derserve these 'reperations', but they haven't the motivation nor the skills to begin the road to self sufficiency.

tailgato: you have made an excellent point. the people i know that are black and successful have told me, so what if i'm black and the odds are against me i will succed and they have.
