Here is a picture of the Chicken and Dumpling soup I made last week. Something so good and so nice and warm, on a chilly fall night. Normally, I would never post something like this. But I was asked too.

Thanks Drafter.

I don't really use a recipe either. I have been making this soup for so long, it's like second nature. Learned it from my mom.

Sorry to hear eze.

My mom was an AWESOME cook. Half Italian, half polish. Plus, she worked in restaurants for the last 25 years of her life. I was able to watch and learn, sometimes. Unfortunately, I only remember how to make 2 or 3 of her best dishes. She never used recipes either.

YUMMY. That looks good.

My best advice is to write it down. My grandmother made a few things and never wrote down the recipies. Now she is gone and there are a lot of things I wish I could make.

David--call your Mom and tell her to make hers for the weekend.

ooooohhhhhh, yea! Can I come live with you? I haven't had a home cooked meal in a month. (wife in school full time and work full time)

Ya I know, cook yourself. Not only is it just not the same but I am a really crappy cook. I do good dishes though. :^)

Chief is pretty good cook, and continuously amazed at how it is that simple food is often the best.

Chicken and dumplings right near zenith of 'heirarchy of good eats'!

I've got a friend whose mother made squirrel and dumplings every now and then... she would shoot them out of her pecan trees, clean them and freeze em until there was enough....

In the 1950's, on Fridays, the poultry and egg man (like a milkman, he drove a route) would bring his goodies to our house early in the morning. By dinnertime my mother would have made a big kettle of chicken paprikash with flour dumplings. I am not a big fan of skin, but the skin on her chicken wings would melt in my mouth.

Dat soup looks mighty fine.

I forgot all about this!

Ramon, I'll tell you... My mom, fabulous cook. She SUCKED at baking though and she knew it. She had a talent. I don't think there was ever a person who tried her cooking that didn't like it.

I made stuffed peppers for dinner. My mom drove down for a visit the next day. She said she was hungry and I asked her if she wanted a stuffed pepper. (Another one of her specialities.) She said sure and I heated one up for her.

She sat in the chair eating and I sat sweating... You could tell she was trying to figure out every single ingredient I used. She looked at me, got this smile on her face while she shook her head, and said "Well done my dear, well done." And something about her words not falling on deaf ears. Hahaha
