This is Madi, our new Blue Healer. We rescued her from an animal shelter 2 weeks ago. She was VERY timid, but is coming out of her shell nicely. She loves to chase her tennisball.

Nice dog, congrats! It''s very nice that you got the dog from a shelter as I try to support my local shelter when I can.

My wife and I have three cats; 1st was a stray, 2nd was a kitten from a friend, 3rd was from local shelter.

She''s a sweetheart.... It''d been about 14 months since we lost our last dog, and the mrs was finally ready to get another.

One cool thing, is the way my new studio is situated, I can take her to work with me sometimes. She''s sleepin on the floor by my feet as I type.

Kipp, is it me or does the pup have a sensitive/intelligent look? Like she can read faces.
That''s the first thing that came to mind when I saw the photo.

One of the guys used to work for me brought his heeler to work every day, a truly remarkable dog, smarter than most 8 year old humans.
They like a lot of attention, and they are Houdini''s...

Cattle dogs (Queensland Blue Heelers) are the best dogs. My cattle dog Annie was with me for 20 years - and I still miss her, and she''s been gone for 5 now. At first it''s a little disconcerting when the dog is smarter than 98% of the people you know, but after a while you get used to it. Great choice, both you and she are lucky to have each other! -Beth

Thanks everyone, for the kind words..... (you too Bloody)

The last dog we had was a heeler/Australian Sheperd mix.......had her for 16 years. She, too was smart as hell. Madi doesn''t seem to have all the hyperactively that Skinner had. Maybe once she gets to know us better...... :)

Dogs are cool...especially blue healers. Reminds me of that scene in "The Road Warrior", with the blue healer holding on to the string tied to the trigger of the shot gun.

When he grows up, don''t let him near the shot gun.

My wife was the National Rescue Coordinator for the NEAA
(Norwegian Elkhound Association of America) for ten years, so I know a little bit about the subject.

You hit the nail right on the head when you said...
Rescuing a pup is the way to go......don''t help the puppy mills!

Thank you for giving this dog another chance.
Believe me... she KNOWS what you did for her and she will NEVER forget it.

My condolences. I at the point of no more animals. Until I find one, then it's back on. While losing them is such agony, the time spent is precious. More loving and faithful than most humans, there is no duplicity in animals either. Unconditional love, damn.

Thanks everyone. It's been a hard week. We don't have children, so our dogs are. She hadn't been feeling good, and ultrasound showed she was riddled with cancer. **** sucks
