I wanted to sample at least three of these before providing my opinion on this cigar. Knowing so many of you rave over this stick I wanted to take my time with this one! For starters, I really enjoyed this cigar and would give it an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. This cigar had a lot going for it aside from the reasonable price tag. Better than average construction with absolutely no soft spots this cigar was cased in a fairly oily wrapper. The draw was of perfect resistance although for some reason I had to re-light each cigar I sampled. The smoke was thick and inviting with an aroma that reminded me of the La Flor Dominicana maduro cigars. Medium bodied in flavor that hinted it would strengthen with a little more time in the box. The downside was that each cigar finished dry, and the flavor sharply fell off at the half way point. The wonderful nuts you taste early on developed into a harsh flavor resembling burnt pinecones. Although not unusual among the stronger cigars, I think the ability to smoke a cigar down to your thumb and still enjoy it is the sign of a kick ass stogie. This cigar bellied up to the bar, but does not drink `em under the table….

Which size are you sampling? These are tasty sticks. I always try to let mine dry out for a day or so before smoking them and don't seem to have burn problems. I love the Coladas!

I tried the torpedo size, I haven't made official comments yet for I have only had one, but the one I did have the flavor stayed true for over 3/4 the stick which greatly impressed me for a cigar I haven't aged. In fact it was getting late and I stopped smoking at about 3/4 the cigar who knows when the flavor would have went south. Anyway, I confess, when trying a cigar for the very first time, especially a full flavored or bodied cigar I get a bit initmidated, for I don't know how to really prepare my mouth for the explosive taste that is about to come, and therefore approach the cigar with kid gloves, like gradually getting in to cold water. My next one I know what to expect so I will dive in the deep end. This was especially true with the Ashton VSG. I am used to nice mild Ashton's so when I lit in to this one for the first time it practically knocked me off my chair!

Let the Maduro Fuertes rest at about 60-62% rather than the usual 70%. This suggestion was made by Gael de Courtrivon-the owner of La Luna. This will alleviate your needing to relight the thing. In addition, use a flame lighter rather than a TORCH-type flame thrower. This will prevent the build up of carbon on the foot of the cigar that causes any bitterness. These 2 suggestions should greatly enhance your Maduro Fuerte smoking experience.

I started the evening with a Maria Mancini Magic Mountain. It was wonderfully constructed and burned and drew well. Unfortunately this thing just did not cut it! Something was missing, lack of flavor and just blah. Next I made the decision to make up for wasted time. To the rescue came a La Luna Maduro Fuerte Tornado! Man that was a tasty smoke! Full bodied, medium + flavored and oh so good! These are some great smokes in my opinion.

I think these are excellent smokes, although they are a little pricey. They are going for about three bucks plus per stick when I think they should be closer to two bucks each. If I could find a source for the robustos at $50 a bundle of 25 I would be a happy camper.

If you want a less expensive £a £una product, buy a bundle of the unbanded LHB's from Cigars International (Cigar Bid's Parent site). The Maduro Fuerte is a stick that has the quality material and makeup that deem it to be a $3.00+ stick. There are still brands out there right now that are more than twice the price that don't even compare. I am thrilled that you like the product. That is why I am on my soapbox. I love the things. So, partner, just bite your lip, drop the extra cash, and enjoy a damn good cigar. You'll be glad you did.

Good review Wanyburger! Took the words and and smoke right from my mouth. I love the first half of the stick...if I can keep it burning. Then, on the back half(if I can keep it burning) it heats up and has a taste similar to a radish. I passed some out to friends who report back the same findings. Oh well, for the price we can smoke the first half, then ferilize the flower garden with the back half. Later!

Drop he humidity level to about 60-62% for your Maduro Fuertes. The other LL's do fine at 70%. The MF's do much better at a slightly lower RH. Try that then do another review.

Just tried 2 of the Little Havana Blend Robustos today (thanks for the tip Timinator) and enjoyed them. I found that they tasted a lot like the Punch London Clubs (which I like, though most people don't). The draw was easy, the burn was for the most part, even and the aroma was very nice, spicy taste and smell. Smoked it a little over 1/2 way before they started to get harsh, not a bad little stick. Will smoke the rest of the bundle and try the other La Lunas. Thanks again, Timinator :)
