I am happy he did it. Too many people oput there looking for their 15 minutes of fame by being totally rude @ssholes. Freedom of Speech does not mean you have the right to interrupt a designated forum just becuase you don't like or agree with what's being said. Get a sign and protest outside or write a letter to an op-ed page or start a blog. In a public forum - sit down and shut up. That goes for the whackos on either side of the aisle.

That being said, I think I could take Christies fat ass in a fight.

I disagree. Politicians should be heckled at every opportunity.

I wish the audio was good enough to hear what the guy was actually saying.

Heckling doesn't serve much of a purpose. But, the man should have got his question answered. These elected officials are supposed to represent those they serve. As such, Meg should be sitting with her constituents, listening to what they have to say, and take their concerns to heart so the problems can be resolved. I disagree that the problem is "people who yell divide the country..." comment. All the NJ Governor did was shut the guy down and didn't resolve anything. The only reason the crowd clapped was because they support Whitman - nothing more. Too many Americans are lemmings and will fall for just about anyone who comes along.

BTW, this isn't a partisan issue - this goes for both ruling parties. Neither side represents those they serve any longer - they represent themselves and private corporations who contribute to their campaign. And, I'm a conservative so I'm not a liberal bashing a Republican post......

I'm officially calling shenanigans on this post.......

Why was the NJ governor in California campaigning someone?

I KNOW New Jersey hasn't fixed all their problems and have idle time.

Christie backed that jerk right the hell down. When he gets toe to toe with you, he's a big boy.

As for getting his questions answered, I'm not sure "questions" like "You're looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger in a dress," require anything more than a STFU.

Exactly...What are you hiding might have deserved an answer....

The immature, sexist, I know you are but what am I, childish remark disqualified him from even being considered for an answer

Fellas - did you all not read the article?????? Here, let me quote it for you:

"What are you hiding? You're looking like Arnold [Schwarzenegger] in a dress," heckler Ed Buck shouted at Whitman.

While you didn't like the way he asked the question, he did ask "what are you hiding?" And, Whitman has attended quite a few functions and refuses to take questions. Still: If you are running for public office, you serve the people. As such, these people have a right to ask questions and anybody not hiding anything will freely answer the questions. Having your goon from NJ shut down a legitimate question and then telling him "you are dividing America" is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. No free speech any longer???????? Seems to me the politicians are dividing America - most support partisan politics. That's what I call 'dividing'...............

Meg's dumped over $100 million of her own money into a campaign for a job that pays her about $200K a year. Meg is not being a noble person - she is a shrewed business woman who is backed by some big money corporations in CA as well. Frankly, I don't care if she gets elected or not. And, I could care less if Jerry Brown gets elected. I'm just tired of politicians with money running over the common man and doing what they want because "they know what's best for Americans."

Frankly, I still think she needs to take questions and provide answers. You'all can believe what you want to believe. This is why I try to stay out of the politics forum - nobody wants to break their party affiliation to look as something objectively......

I supposed the key to this is the word "heckler", which usually describes someone who is there to throw word bombs, disrupt a meeting, knock the candidate off his/her game, and get media attention. They're not there to truly debate facts. And how in the hell was she supposed to answer such as stupid, open-ended question that was framed with an insult? Why would she answer it?

I suppose she could have said "nothing". But I would imagine the idiot would have just come at her with more disruptive crap.

This has not a thing to do with party lines. it has everything to do wtih intelliegent discourse, whether it's the Dems or the Repubs. Ask good questions. Ask hard questions. Follow up and demand answers that can be given with solid facts. That makes your cause to get her to speak noble.

Don't ask stupid, open-ended questionst that truly have no answer like "What are you hiding?", and frame it up with an insult to boot. No one (well, almost no one) at that point thinks you are smart. You're dismissed as a bomb-throwing social donkey and everyone moves on.

^ If Meg was anywhere near as bright as some believe, she should have confronted him herself and said "I understand you're upset. You are correct - as a public servant I shouldn't have anything to hide. Why don't you ask me a specific question that I can answer and I'd be happy to do it. What would you like to know?"

I guess I find it chickensh*t to shut someone down. If you really want to shut this dude down, ask him what he wants. When he can't come up a specific question that makes sense, then he's the one who looks like an azzhat.

So, I'm guessing you all are happy the NJ governor shut him down. And, by your support I'm guessing you agree that this heckler (and his kind) are responsible for dividing America as well.

Okey dokey then......I'll just back out and let you all revel in your own glory.......

So she is in the wrong and should've defended herself because of a heckler???? See there's the problem right there and actually add substance to what the NJ Gov said....The perception is that they should've shown empathy and compassion to some chronic, habitual, heckler to understand his true feelings and because SHE didn't confront him in that split second that she had to react before he did, then she handled it wrong????

I don't know whether to laugh or just shake my head....

FGM: Do as you wish. Maybe it's high time more of went and heckled these folks and forced them to start representing the people as they are supposed to do. Our political system is just about completely worthless at this point. I'm just tired of all these worthless politicians doing only those things that benefit them and not serving the people. And, this isn't the first for Meg - she's been great at avoiding the questions and avoiding the organizations that want to talk to her. Her answer is to avoid and throw more money at it. Fortunately for her, she's got plenty of money to throw around. What's worse, I'm a republican and I'm supposed to support her. Yet, she's no different than the rest of them. Obviously, Jerry Brown is a poor choice for Governor as well.

I've pretty much decided our political system is completely broken. I'd support the tea party but many of them are whackjobs as well......

As long as New Jerseyians are running around California shooting off their mouths, it just means that is one less New Jerseyian we have to deal with coming down to Florida.

I blame all this bickering among CBid posters for producing the crappy new improved CBid. All this shouting does is divide us and gives the Swedes more power.

Bad Americans the whole lot of ya'll. Pray
