He 's playing a small arena in Ft Worth in a couple weeks.My wife wants to go.Obviously it sold out within minutes of the tickets going on sale.

decent,not great seats are going for $289 each...

I dunno...

I saw Elton John in 1971. Canton OH; I can't imagine I paid more than 10.00 A little "Foggy" My cousin John Mahon Plays in his band.

I saw EJ in vegas about 4 years ago at cesars palace. Excellent show back then, 90 minutes with stage props and videos in the backround.
We sat in the front row of the balcony. I believe we paid $125 a seat. One of the videos featured Pam Anderson and a stripper pole!

Honestly, for Elton John, that's not a bad price. High? Yes. Bad, no,

I've paid more than that to see other legends out here in the bay area.

(if that doesn't convince you, think of all the sexual favors you could get from her with the tickets,,,)

It's a couple hundred in Vegas on a weekend. You can get tickets cheaper if you go midweek (Vegas).

$290 sounds on the high side but not completely out there. I paid $400 for Keith Urban tickets, center stage, 7 rows back. THAT.....IMO, was high. Great show though.

It’s all of those rich guys taunting us with their purple sport coats, bedazzled glasses, and fancy, feather adorned hats. Money means nothing to them. They read the threads here and laugh. It is sick. They go to concerts flashing $100 bills, pretending they're there for "the wife", when in reality, we know why they go.

I'd buy one for a buck fiddy (not a big fan of Elton John's music but respect him as a musician and stuff)

Scalping a ticked one, I'd prolly sell it for $200.

This reminds me of my one and only “scalping” experience.

Fleetwood Mac “Tusk” tour in 1980.

Through a rigged in-store contest, I won 2nd place in a free concert ticket “competition” between the sales clerks. Sponsored by CBS Records (…it wouldn’t be sold to Sony for a few more years…), I won 2 tickets to any 3 concerts of my choosing. First place was 6 set of tickets.

Anyway, I had used two sets for, I don’t remember who, but kept the last one for the rumored (…see what I did there?…) Fleetwood Mac appearance. But, while FMac was the #1 music act at the time, I wasn’t into the Stevie Nicks - Lindsey Buckingham line-up. Since the “white” album, customers would walk in and request us to put on their music while they shopped. Got sick and tired of listening to them.

Thought my girlfriend would want to see them so requested tickets for their show. Got the tickets and told my GF. Slightly shocked when she said she didn’t want to go. None of the other clerks wanted to go either so I asked Kathleen, the 1st place winner, since she was also going to the same show, to sell my tickets. Face value was $12.50, she sold each for $25!

Used the $50 to buy gas a month for my 1968 Plymouth Road Runner.

Damn $25 each.

Saw Fleetwood Mac under some duress back in the late 1990's, early 2000's on one of their "were getting old and want to cash in before we retire" type of tour. Neighbors bought tickets and my wife bought a set too. It was gonna be a double date type thing and she'd surprise me. Don't remember the cost of them but well over $100 for balcony seats and I wasn't a Fleetwood Mac fan. I didn't dislike their music bit didn't crave it either.

I took it in stride and went to the show. It was a pretty good show and I have more appreciation of their music ever since.

Hahaha! I know you were a youngun’ in 1980 but gas was about a $1 / gal. However, with my ‘68 Road Runner, I was only getting around 10 mpg. Luckily we still lived in town and my work commute to Holiday Mart Kaheka was only about 12 miles round trip. Only had classes at UH twice a week but would often schedule myself to work after my classes so no inefficient driving.

Iffin’ Palama Market was around back then, I woulda just walked from the HM parking lot to PM to buy that kalbi plate and a large fruit punch. Drool

There are times I'm jealous of your locale, but not this time. I was still able to find gas for $0.60/gal in '92.

It helped with that 8mpg car I periodically gripe about

I NEVER CARED FOR ELTON JOHN AT ALL...
MAYBE A FEW SONGS? BUT NO MORE THAN 2...
THAT whole " rainbow" fairy pop scene is not rock and roll...

He ain't no Little Feat or Led Zeppelin...

Just a pop goofy **** with a lot of strange political views...
He did a lot for AIDS sufferers so I guess that's a plus...
His music just does nothing at all for me whatsoever.

Saw Elton 3 times in the '70s.

First time in 1971 when it was just a trio. Elton, Dee Murray and Davey Johnstone. Was okay. I wasn't that much into his music. It was, to paraphrase someone who is no longer on the board (...thank goodness...), a decent show.

Next two times, 1973 and 1974, he had evolved into big show Elton. Full band, eye-catching outfit, the flashing "Elton" and then "John" glasses, jumping on his piano a la Jerry Lee Lewis. Totally AWESOME! Those two are in my Top 10 concerts.

As he grew to being the #1 pop star in the world, his music had become too Top 40-ish for me and never thought enough to go to another show of his. But to Bill's OP, nah, I wouldn't have paid that much to see EJ in 2000. I guess you could say I had outgrown his music a quarter of a century earlier.
