I've not purchased it before.I'd want to know why they're seconds????????

Cobs are so reasonable why not buy first and be done with it.

If someone were just starting out the grab bag may not be a bad idea.....but an established smoker that already has a few cobs and briars I don't see the necessity.

Ron

that's me

as far as the reviews that i've read, they may have slight imperfections but otherwise smoke pretty dayam well. far as i can tell, to get 10 regular cobs will cost anywhere from $80-$100 where as the grab bag is only $30. plus i get to try the various types out before deciding which type/shape i like the best. i was already leaning over the fence, and i'll probably end up buying a bag.

Thanks for the input!

If you really like the SJF you need to try McConnell's Scottish Cake.Very similar IMO.Neither will replace my beloved Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls or Davidoff Flake Medallions but they are good......a little heavier on perique than my two listed faves.

Ummmmmm sales........you better just grab it when available. It can be hard to get at times.

i got the scottish cake and it wasn't as good as the st james or the formers. will dry some for this evenings smoke and re-try as it may have been too damp. found the st james in bulk and requested notification when back in stock as well as the full virginia, and will pick up a lb of each

I bought one of the MM seconds bags. Some are just ugly cobs, and some have the stem a bit too far off the bottom of the bowl. These are the only things I have found with the batch I got.
Here is a pic of the batch I got.

Good flavor but learning the pack on this stuff is a little difficult.I still don't really have it down. The baccy is a fine shag cut which burns like dry forest bed if not packed tight enough.Gonna try some other tricks on it and I'll report back.
