i have bought new cobs on ebay with excellent results. i would hesitate buying an estate pipe without inspection. there are some very reputable dealers though and some come highly recommended. pda gotcha? i got a dozen briars that i have to make myself use occasionally, always reaching for the cobs

don't have any briars yet and wanted to get a cheap one to compare with cobs first. cobs do seem easier to manage... we'll see

Ok... I think I'm in the right place here. I've been doing a lot of reading and following the threads but need some help. Very interested in trying out the pipe and all it has to offer.

I've come to determine that I'm gonna do a cob for starters... a Missouri Meerschaum (it sounds like a solid place to start). When it comes to the tobacco, I don't know where to start. Sorry to butt in but I'm a newbie so any further advice would be welcome.

Is there a good place to buy the cob or a place where I should avoid?

As for tobacco, I'm not interested in aromatic tobaccy so other than that, any advice? I don't know anything about the blends and I would probably like flake but since I've never tried any of it I'm game for your advice.

I'm your disciple and willing to learn. A CVS Cob though? Won't it be a plastic POS that looks like a cob? I was thinking of getting a real thing...

Again, I'm ignorant in this realm.

you can get cobs everywhere. theres a 10 cob grab bag avail for 30 bux. although they're 2nds, most of the reviews are positive. just google missouri meerschaum and it should be the first one that comes up.

Big mistake Ron. Does GAE, aka "The Afghan Assassin" or "The Korean Killah" have your addy? He just picked up a seconds sampler from MM and I think he has some extra wooden matches too. Show any weakness....
