Asylum 13 fifty. I was outbid and then the next guy was outbid until the winning bid was up to $5/stick. Can we talk about how most reviewers call this the bargain stick of the year... why are people bidding $5 + shipping for sticks that cost $5.00 at your local b&m.

smh

The ones sold here are heavier (more tobacco), and aged longer than the ones sold at B&Ms.
La Princessa weighs each cigar on her vintage O'Haus Triple Beam, left over from her party days.
The heaviest ones are sold to ________________ members, and are available only in the _______________ auction site. Usually fivers, but the occasional single as well.
I scored my last fiver for $10.00........not too bad.

Cigar Bid, THANK GOD, is set up as a SNIPING AUCTION. Other Auction sites give you a minute or two at closing time to enter a new bid if someone out bids you. That is BULL****. All that does is run up the price so the retailer can suck more money out of the bidders pocket. Every bidder can be patient and realize that the stogie they are bidding on most likely will be offered up again and again, and won at the DISOCUNTED auction price, as opposed to a fattened up, last minute bidding feud that runs the price up.

FREEDOM TO SNIPE IS AN AMERICAN RIGHT!!!!

"DISOCUNTED?" Sounds like a Freudian slip to me!!!! Shame on you

Queue the immortal Donutboy mantra, wish I could remember the exact words to this classic rejoinder to the enevitable overbid posts...something to the effect of...oberbidders being "Rich bastages, they don't care. They sneer at us while they light their cigars with $100 bills..."

Why do people over bid on items that you they can buy directly from CI for a cheaper price? Ex. the fall spook spectacular sampler has 2 bids at $85.00 each, they can buy it outright from CI for $79.95. I'm sure CI loves these guys but I don't get it, maybe I'm the stupid one.Brick wall

Why do people whine about what other people bid on?

One other cute trick that some auctions allow is the "privilege" to "automatically" outbid any other bidders, thus assuring the promotors of making a profit and, in fact, encourage overbidding. d'oh!

I've been fooled by this twice on the MUWAT +11s.........thought I was bidding on a 10-Pack (the pic), but was actually a fiver......caught it just in time, both times

And it ain't done yet. Auction prices continue to be high and flirting with or exceeding the CI prices is becoming more common.

I had a similar "WTF" moment last night. I saw some Tattoos on here. A 5-pack. I see a lot of you guys like these, so I put a $21 bid with a max of $23. No sense going higher, since I could buy them from the mother ship for $24 for s 5-pack. I check my bids just before bedtime and and the winner's bid is now $25. As I chuckle and get ready to shut down the computer, I notice there is a free-fall going on for Tattoo's. I buy 10 of them for $32.

It seems you've learned a thing or two. Why didn't you buy 2 10 packs though?

Yup here lately it seems FF auctions are the better deal.

I got 2 fivers of tat nobles for $17.72 on FF then saw a fiver bid up to $25 on an auction.

Also splurged last week and got some liga no. 9s for $58. No liga privada no.9 or t52 has sold for that little here yet and I have been watching.

I have yet to taste the first one. Got to see if I will like them before buying more. Seems like a lot of guys do like them though.

I bought some Jamie Garcias because there were a lot of recommendations for them. It is a great cigar, but, wow...talk about strong. Right there on my limit. I got enough to last me for a long time.

I don't know where you got your prices for CI, but I went online and they have this cigar listed for sale at $136.99. Maybe a catalog? Maybe a misprint? Shame on you

As noted by Tony, they're on sale at the mothership for $59.89/box......................which is probably still an overbid.

Storage fact: wrapping a dogturd in a gold lettered Opus cello will instantly change the profile of turd to super prem and within a week the aged super will be equivalent to 5 years. If you do not notice the change instantly it may need DW added in the cello, shaken up, sealed, and microwaved on power 30 for a minute and 69 seconds.

This is my first time chime'n in on an "overbidding" post, so here it goes. In my short 7 or 8 months of bidding (lost count and quit care'n about time anyway), this is the one rule that I ALWAYS keep.....no matter how bad I might want what I'm looking at....................IF I CAN'T GET IT FOR MORE THEN 50% SAVINGS, I AIN'T GET'N IT. ram27bat

I keep hearing about all of this overbidding BS, but let me hit ya with some knowledge.....we are all men or women, if you can't control your impulses maybe you shouldn't be on the innerweb buy'n stuff. If that's not your excuse, then you must just be a fool for not doing your research. Go to what I call the "Mother Site"/"Mothership" (Cigars International....not sure if anyone else calls it that or not, just popped into the ol' grey matter), find what it is that you're about to bid on, and decide your ceiling. Problem solved.

Just my .02 cents worth

50% savings off of what? B&M prices or CI prices.

You're rule is fuct already. You are here, eventually you will start buying better cigars. Just a matter of time.

Try watching the free fall auctions. Good smokes in there and dip****s can't outbid you on those auctions.

Herfing

I'm talking CI prices. I love hitting the FF's. But you have to watch them too. Yesterday they were running 5 packs of Nica Rustica El Brujito's. On the Mother Site, $30.....on the FF, the fall started around $37 or $38. They still try to sneak one in on ya if you don't watch'em.

I looked up the thread on the Graycliff Avelino Lara 80th PG. The "overbidders" bought it for $12.00 a stick. CI is/was selling the same stick for $100 for a fiver ($20.00 a stick.) HOWEVER, I looked up this product on Puff and most called it quite an "ordinary" cigar, making either the $12.00 or $20.00 price questionable at best. Further, there were many complaints on a "tight draw," so maybe this was an overbid. d'oh!

I was one of the idiots who bought the Padron 5000 for $7. The mothership price is $7.20 ($36 for a 5 pack) and it would get thrown in with the rest of my order, so there basically is no shipping. This was my first Padron 5000 and wanted to see if it was worth it. I was at a B&M the night before and it was selling in the $10 range. I would have to agree AFTER I smoked it...it was average in taste to me, but I didn't know that when I bid on it. I don't buy Padrons any more.
