First things first. I have a great Wife! For Christmas, she had my stocking stuffed with a bunch of cigars she had gotten from a B&M.

Given that she knows nothing about cigars or what I like, she did a pretty darn good job! She said she just went into the walk-in humi and started pointing "That one, ok, that one," getting different sizes and different priced ones. Fortunately the guy at the store gave her a little humi-pack and they were ziplocked! Had a stocking with some Padrons, La Glorias, Brickhouse, a CAO Brazillian (she liked the wrapper) and one that I had never tried before: La Historia by E.P. Carrillo. Now I know who E.P is and have had several of his smokes, but never tried this one.

Fired it up yesterday and, as I usually try to do with a new cigar, didn't look anything up or read about it before the smoke so I would, hopefully, not be biased. Today searched here but, although this stick has been mentioned a few times, I didn't see any review from a C-bidder, so here it goes.

For starters this cigar has a beautiful presentation. Great double band and satin cap on the foot. Very nice looking, looks and feels well made. Seemed a bit "soft" and squishy. Nice pre-light tobacco aroma. This was the "toro" (6.1 x 50) size

Lit up well and burned nice and straight throughout. Ash was a bit flaky but firm. Very easy draw but not "too" easy if you know what i mean

Large amounts of nice smelling smoke from beginning to end. Very flavorful cigar. Definitely dark-chocolatish notes along with a smooth flavorful tobacco flavor. I would classify this as more of a medium cigar (for me anyway). At times coffee/espresso flavors popped in and, when they were together, it reminded me of when you sprinkle that unsweetened coco powder into a cup of coffee at one of those coffee shops.

About halfway through, started picking up what I noted was a "toasty" flavor. This may be what the ad-blurbs call "roasted nuts." To me it was more like a nice piece of wheat toast. Also very nice.

In the last quarter it showed some spice with a bit - but not too much - of a nicotine kick. The stick lasted a good long time. Longer than would have expected given the softer construction.

Great finish throughout and pleasant aftertaste long after the cigar was finished. One reason this cigar should last you a while is that the finish is so good, there was no need to puff again right away. Had some red wine after the cigar as done and a bit of chocolate and as soon as I did that, I wish I had had them while I was smoking -- that would have been a great pairing I think.

Wrote all the notes down with the conclusion it was a great cigar I would defiantly buy for the right price, but would hope I could get it less than the $9 she paid at the B&M. There are a WHOLE lot of sticks I can get for $9 that are pretty darn good.

Then I looked up the blurbs on the Mothership and other reviews and to my surprise i had just smoked the #2 Cigar for 2014 according to CA - albeit in a different size. Also surprised that the ad-blurbs are pretty on-point with this one. I will have to try out the E-III size that got the #2 nod and see if it is differeent/better.

Thank you for that review. Hope to get a shot at one soon.
