I havn't been a cigar smoker long and have only tried about a dozen different kinds. The Puros Indios is by far the best that I have tried. Anybody have any suggestions as to what might be simular. Are the H Uppman any good? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks and take care.

The only Upmanns I've tried are the machine made Especiales (ISOM) They are excellent! I also like the Puros Indios! Have you signed up for the hot deals yet? if not go to the main auction page, and enter your email addy in the hot deals window. Don't expect to start receiving weekly spam, as they will only send notification of a really special deal! The last was late Dec/ early Jan with an auction of 1000 lots of 1 box each of Puros Indios Presidentes at $29.95 a box! I got three! I also like the Special Aged Piramides. As I've gotten more adventurous, I've developed a taste for Cameroons, so you might give some of those, and some maduros a try. If you send your snailer to: doittome1959 (at) aol (dot) com I'll try to send you a small sampler.

Was the Puros Indios a maduro that you smoked?? Have all the cigars you have smoked been lighter wrappers?

I think Puros Indios is somewhat underrated, and makes fine cigars. I smoke about 3 maduro Rothchilde's a week, and the consistency takes 2nd place only to cigars like Padron 2000-3000, Torano Reserve Select, and Gurkha Master Select, IMO.
As far as what compares......CAO Black(spicy), Padron 2000 maduro(sweet), CAO Brazilia(smooth).
It's hard to pick out a dead-giveaway comparison, cause Puros Indios has it's own toastiness.....however you can't go wrong with the cigars I have mentioned above, and Remember....No-one can tell you what a good and bad cigar is until you have tried it.

Maybe I should give these another try. I smoked one Pyramide and was quite disappointed. I gave the other 11 away.

Hey Wood,

I'm with you on PI. Been one of my favorites for years. Watch out for the Viejo '98 though (see my dog rocket post for more details).

I'm always pile on PI posts. I still think is the best recurring deal on CBid. I personally like them and they are very consistent - especially at $30-$35/box they go for around here. That's half the CI price which is low in the first place!

Bassdude I have ONLY tried the Puramids and liked each one ...let it rest then give it a shot. But I have heard that they are prone to beetles. I keep mine in a seperate box in the big humi. :)

I LOVE 'EM ... IMHO, they are the most complex of flavors of any cigar in that price range. Another similar cigar, according to my taste buds, is Remedios.

PI's are also one of my old standby cigars. I always keep an assortment on hand. Picked up a couple boxes a short while ago when they were a special buy.

I concur with the King.....
I have always enjoyed Puros Indios... I have several going through the aging process now. I've been a Remedios fan for 3 years now... Not easy to find. This brand seems to be under the radar. Both have good flavor, not quite as complex as a premium cigar but certainly good and both great values.

love PI's, pirate's gold, cienfuegos.

if haven't tried them, you should. when you see any thread on PI's, just ignore the people who inevitably come here to **** on a cigar they don't like. just judge for yourself.

I bust on PIs...all Reyes cigars have a distinct and very recognizable flavor to me -- mildewy hay and sour milk.

Cigar are the same as food. It's all a matter of taste. I don't like asparagus. Or PIs.

Sometimes i go over old threads just to get a good laugh. This one goes back all the way to 2003. I can't believe that most of these guys are serious or, in the alternative, that there are so many azzholes in the world..
