Got my shipment of overbids in a couple days ago.

35 Genesis Habanos at 13/5r (overbid but had been averaging higher, so I threw in 13 for 10 lots, hoping to win one or two at that price...)
2 Boxes Tat Lanceros at 70/ea (can get cheaper buying retail elsewhere, but still a decent price)

Parked the Habanos in an ammo can with a few strips of Spanish cedar and a couple Bovedas. Tossed the can on a shelf in the basement, hopefully I'll forget about it for a year or more.
The Tats got buried in the bottom of my box humidor. Took the place of a old box of Padilla 1932's and Cain F Lancero Tubos that were each down to one or two smokes each. Tats do well with age, so along with the other tat boxes in there pushing a bit over a year, not planning on cracking em open anytime soon.

I try to play by DPN rules, but occasionally, I really want to win. Still beat retail, so can't complain even if I overbid.

tl;dr sometimes an overbid can still be a decent deal.

One of my favorites.

Would gladly pay $3 ea. Chit... Would gladly pay $6/ea.

Somehow I've missed these on here....

I almost cracked my box of habanos tonight. I really want to see what these are all about, love the Genesis project. I tried to get a fiver in with my last order but I wasn't going to play over $10 for them.

Interested to see if they are good right out of the gate or if they do like the project and get better with age.

I vote to age them for a little bit. I picked up 10 a couple of months ago and they definitely taste better now than the week after I got them.

Will do thanks for the suggestion.

Strange how time can do so much to improve a cigar. Some cigars nothing will help others just a years rest and they're much better.

Saw what you meant. Wow. OK, this is the second time I've seen these going for $180+ a fiver. Is any cigar that good?

Perhaps the bids lately are for fathers' day gifts.

I think you hit the nail on the head Tony, I'm not bidding on ANYTHING right now. Shipping is usually another "cluster" when any of the gift giving holidays are near.

Didn't think about the Father's Day effect, but then Mrs. Monkey probably wouldn't venture online for cigars - though in the past I have gotten a few items from my B&M. This may explain why my shipping has been delayed this week. Noted.

As with many of these..................I'd wager he thinks he's getting the bundle of 20.
He bought all 4, hoping to win one at a "good" price of $23, not horrible for 20 La Perlas.................but extra horrible for a fiver of La Perlas.

People still get fooled by the pic.............

Box of 10 sells at the mothership for $59.99. That means they got themselves a deal. No overbid, no way!

Meanwhile these are at $81 for 20 in the "Private" auction. I guess some people just have to have the box to go with them (DPG BLues) - http://www.cigarbid.com/...-Blue-Generosos-toro-24/

$64 is certainly not a good price, as many of us have scored these in the $40s...........
but, most times they go for well into the $50s........
and, mothership sells boxes for $79.99.................
mediocre deal? yes
overbid? no

When it costs nearly as much or more for shipping than items purchased that's overpaying on shipping.

These usually go for about $100 here. $129 on CI.

Don't understand this one at all As was noted, the mothership sells them at the same exact price. Additionally, if you tack on some extra's, such as "Joe's Daily Deal," you get free shipping on the entire order. So why bid when it isn't any deal at all? Just asking! horse
