CC box to get

So my boss/best bud gave me I bonus of 200 to get some cc.

So the big question is with that budget and I have about 50-100 more I can add, what would be worth it and in the price range to get. If not 1 box maybe 5ers or bunch of singles.

What would guys suggest? I looked at the monte #2 and that is a little pricey.

Or maybe someone here on the board may have some they might be willing to trade

Let me know please. Hopefully I am not violating any form rules either
Thanks in advance

H. Upmann Magnum 46's are pretty good for the money.

With roughly a $300 budget I would definitely recommend the Monte No.2 or the Especial No.2 (if you like the lancero vitola) Both are great cigars. Would also recommend considering the Petit Edmundos

To fill-out (or maybe go slightly beyond) the $300 budget, also consider adding a smaller vitola like a 25/box of Bolivar Coronas Junior, H.Upmann Half Coronas, Partagas Shorts or Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas. The addition may put you at around $350. But for me if given $200 as a gift for cigars, I'll spend another $200+ on top. Especially when they are all on sale now!

Have fun shopping!

I would go with a box of Juan Lopez #2 and a box of Boli PC, will put you just slightly over the $300 mark but great smokes for the money imho.

Good recs in #'s 2, 3 & 6.

However, I might stay away from the P/Edmundos unless they have some age on them. And I would add Partagas SD #4's to the possibilities.

Depends if you want a good mix or a full box. I would go for a Cab of the Portages Shorts or the DB25 of Bolivar
Coronas Gigantes on the full box. If you want a good mix I'd go for the RyJ Short Churchills Tubos, Partagas Série P No. 2 Tubos or the H. Upmann Magnum 46 &/or 50 Tubos. All great reasonably priced cigars (i.e. no Cohibas). Most of the good online shps have some kind of mix box that they sell. I'm also a fan of the Trinidad Reyes five packs (but they are a little on the high price side). YMMV Good problem to have and good hunting. Herfing

The big thing about the Party Shorts is that they are a great smoke ROTT they never seen to need any aging. With many of the others you can get on line they improve a lot with a long rest I the humi. But the ones I have enjoyed most from the on line shops

HU mags. 46 & 50

Split. No question. Advice on here for NC's was always try a variety before you start getting boxes. Its harder to do with CC's, but the advice is just as solid. I got boxes early on that I regretted....BUT...that wasn't all a bad thing, I suppose. Provided me with bomb/trade bait...and some of those regrets turned around after I buried them for a few years. At any rate, nobody here can tell you that you're going to like a specific box of cigars.

If you'd asked, "What $150 box of NC cigars should I get?", we'd have all told you that we can't tell you what you should get....well, not all of us...there's always plenty who will tell you what you should like.

What do we have to work with? What Cuban cigars have you tried and liked so far?

I like San Cristobal El Principe's and HDM Epicure No. 2 as well as most all other mentioned already.

I know reviews are subjective because everyones tastes are different, but some pretty good info available...

This, well put.

What are your nc preferences as well, sometimes that can give an idea of strength you may desire at least. Over the last few years I did as D put it and bought boxes as well. I've not been sorry, and have a variety of flavors to choose from and enjoy as they progress in age, as well as gift.

Let your taste buds decide, not the price of the cigar. I actually enjoy a couple of machine mades that are cheap, one note flavor bombs.

I tend to gravitate to the smaller ring gauges.

One night, I smoked a Boli Royal Corona that I got in a PIB... then I was like, damn this is good.

Then just to compare, I followed it up with a Boli PC just to see the difference (I was binge Netflix watching on my back porch).

Then I was like... damn, this is just as good.

Even though the ring gauge was bigger on the RC, they both lasted about the same.

They both had very similar flavor.

So the primary difference I guess is the Boli PCs are way cheaper.

So I have to second what others have been saying, Boli PCs FTW.

For $200 I would get a box of H Upmann #2s, the current production has been stellar, and I think they are one of the best values out there. Throw in a box of San Cristobal El Principe to make it a hair over 300.

at this point may as well give the money to your wife and tell her to get something she'd never normally buy.

Gets lots of love from me. In fact, that and HUHC are the only smaller formats I have bought in the last year. Awesome cigar. Almost incredible considering the price.

..... a treadmill (she doesn't need it), stackable rings with our kids names on them and another ring to wear when she's at work so the rubber gloves don't knock a diamond out of her wedding ring.

What am I getting? I'm ordering that cab of mag 46s that I always talk about getting and a few more >:)

My contribution to the cause went out today. Thanks Roger. Btw, the latest Cigar Afficianado ranked the H. Upmann Mag 46 as the top of the ones they reviewed this bimonth.
