Thanks to MikeOz I have a bottle of one of my favorite rums now... Captain MOrgan Private Stock. I know its not as fancy as what y'all drink but I enjoy it. I also have been drinking one of my other favorites, Kraken.

I came real close to buying a bottle of this, but went with Flor De Cana instead. When I went to look at the K&S I about dropped the bottle wasn't expecting it to be so heavy haha.

liked it pretty good, short of loved it.
not the big sweet of Zaya or Zacapa 23, a bit dryer. A bit of heat for 80 proof. I'd get again if the right price.
rumgallery.com doesn't mention it but I thought the profile was similar to a restrained Pyrat but better, if that makes sense, and I can get Pyrat for crazy cheap around here.

edit: Pyrat isn't my favorite profile, but something just reminded me of it in the K & S. But The K & S is much better IMHO

haven't found a local outlet for any of these yet, other than the common 5 year that ain't bad for the money at all. but it is what it is, an every day rum, nothing stellar.
I love the lineup they offer. Did you like?

could only find a review of 2000 in rumgallery...

he thought it tasted a lot better than the aroma led him to believe

They had the 3 year white, the dark and the Jamaican 2001 which I got for $25. Well worth the coin to me, has a nice banana/pineapple nose with a little spice on a sweet finish.

not until just one minute ago...so many rums I've never heard of, yet. Appreciate the heads up, I'll look around it more for sure..

Interesting that Pampero Anniversario finished in 1st place last April in some world competition. It is an excellent sipper. There are several empty leather pouches in my bar that formerly held bottles of this stuff (Reserva Exclusiva) from Venezuela.

I like the distinction made between "sippers" and "mixers" on the site. It is unfair to disregard some rums that simply do not compete well neat or on the rocks when there are several cocktails featuring rum.
