Any opinions on any of these brands? I've been scheming on these brands for a while just wanted some perspective from the OG's. From the research I've done it would appear that the Macanudos are probably in a different league than the LAs and FDOs but what do you all think?

Any opinions on any good miniatures or cigarillos? I've seen that Punch, Hoyo, Victor Sinclair, Sancho Panza and maybe even Macanudo make smaller versions of their cigars. Are any of them any good? Keep in mind I would happily smoke Al Capone's a few years back.... no shame in my game... LOL

Worth the hunt or nah?

Thanks

Flor de Oliva is a solid yard gar. I will have the Corojo version while mowing. Don't like the sweetened head of the regulars.

Macanudo is mild even for mild. Definitely not my thing.

+1........on everything.....although I did stop smoking Flor de Olivas a few years back

La Auroa.....
Preferido #2 Maduro - excellent smoke, used to be able to get them cheap at another place.....those days are over

Preferido #2 Ecuador - nice cigar, generally cheaper than the Maduro

Preferido #2 Cameroon - not my thing, but some people love these

Corojo Robusto - I thought it was pretty good a few years back, but never revisited......so.....

1495 Series Robusto - decent $2 yard gar.....good with coffee in the morning.....

Preferido #2 Connie - I thought it suqed.......but I'm not a Connie fan in general...you may love it

La Aurora Puro Vintage 2003 Salamone - the "Holy Grail" of La Auroras.....apparently back-ordered on the Mothership.......supposedly only 12,000 of these were made......but dang, they sold them here for YEARS.......current price is $125 for a fiver........I paid $5.60/ea.............I over-paid......but it is a beast, decent flavors, and will take up the afternoon.

Flor de Oliva Gold is a fairly decent cigar, don't care for the Macs or Auroras I've tried.

agree on gold over natural. Maduro and corojo are not bad
The preferido Ecuador are nice if you can get them 1/2 of often inflated price. 6-7 bucks and worth it. I always feel like the monopoly guy when I smoke these.

The #2 is a 5X50 double perfecto. I prefer the #1, 6X60, especially the maduro.

Me too...
But they cost too dang much (maduro)...........even when they were "cheap" at the other place years ago.............it was one of those "for that $$, I'd rather buy this" situations that I run in to all too often.

La Auroras Preferidos are great if you can win them for ~$5 or so. But it sounds like you are hunting for budget cigars.

Hoyo Excaliburs aren't bad for the price if you want a cheap small stick.

Mac Cru Royale wasn't too bad, IIRC, but its been quite a few years....the impression I remember was very 'chewy'

Some time ago I came across a B&M that was clearancing a lot of Mac 1968 robs. I bought all they had. Not sure if they still make these any more, but if you come across an one in a shpo somewhere, buy it. They're quite good.

Also years ago, someone gave me a handful of Macs in green tubes - not sure what they were, but made for a tasty morning snack.

FdO's were so-so....but a little maddening. Some were ok $1 cigars....some had sweetened tips....some didn't...some seemed to be short (mixed?) filler, some weren't. I found it not worth my time to sort out what was what since even the 'best' ones were only ok.

Agree with above on LA. I went through a lot of 1495's. Decent for cbid price. Preferidos were well respected around here, but I never found one I thought was nearly worth the cost. Not bad...just not great.
