Hey folks

Live in arizona where temp will hit 120 in tje summer(few weeks from now) amd house stays at 80-88 while at work since our AC bill would be $1000 if i run the AC all day at 78... I have a compressor type wine cooler not in use and was wondering if itd be a good idea to plug it in and run it at lowest highest temp (67) and put my tupperdors and humidor in it with boveda pack in each container/humidor...

Any other good tested methods in keeping my cigars fresh and ready to smoke during the summer months?

Ps: Thermo electric wine cooler is not in my budget..and yes ive read and watched alot of other threads related to rhis but none lived in a hot dry climate.. Floroda is humid so cant relate to that weather.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Freeze 'em.

That's what I do with the ones that I put in my overflow cooler.

You can get a wine fridge for a couple hundred bucks, then worry about drawers later...

Drawers are over-rated, commando that chit.

Oh, I'm in AZ too.

That's a good option golden. The compressor can eff with your rh but if the smokes are in Tupperware your .... golden....

Kind of curious on if it will work or not. I would be afraid to stick my smokes in a compressor fridge for long term storage even if it's in tupperware.

Nah. Well sealed containers in the fridge be fine.

If you're paranoid, wrap em in saran wrap, add a jumbo ziploc bag, hell go n vacuum pack the stuff.

Don't care what the temp is, airtight is airtight. No moisture in or out. Many of us freeze incoming cigars, which would be a hostile environment not unlike your own (though with your high temps, I'd advise using a freezer for incoming stock for beetles) by sealing themi n an airtight container without ill effects.

Yep, I freeze mine for a week before I store them in my cooler.

Probably a bit overkill for a freezer that can get to -20 C... but I'm not a big fan of bugs in my cigars.

I generally don't freeze stuff going into my winador though.

I'll add that it's ok if you let your house get a little hotter and still keep your cigars in outside of the fridge as long as you freeze them first.

As long as you don't let the humidity get too high (try and keep mine about 63 in the non-fridge cooler). If you go over 70 then you risk mold.

Bonus tip, program your AC to crank down to as cold as it will get a few hours before noon (if that's when your peak time starts), then set it high until peak time is over.

I put mine in the wine cooler and when i checked them this morning the meter marked 55tempt and 57 humidity...way too low in less than 24hrs... When i had them stored in my closet, temp was low/mid 70s and humidity was low/mid 60s.. I think ill just store them in the closet for now and in a few week put the humidor and Tupperware in my coller with a few reusable ice packs to keep it a bit cold...seems like that will be the cheapest to maintain them fresh. I dont store my cigars for long period.

Just freeze all in coming cigars for 5 days or so at < 0*F, then it doesn't matter how hot it gets. as long as you keep the humidity well under 70.

People say to let them rest for a month after you take them out of the freezer, but I've smoked them out of the freezer after a day and they smoked fine.
