Me too.

FYI the Plantation 5 year Barbados is actually OK as a sipper, just nowhere near the funk/complexity of the Jamaican.

long story gf's uncle and gf, hetro life mate or whatever are real good with sushi chef and his wife that run a restaurant in St. Louis, tried sake there. Not for me, an something about it being warm made it even worse.

+1

I used to only order hot sake at the sushi bar but once I tried a good cold sake, it's been the chilled stuff almost exclusively.

I keep a bottle of cachaca on hand in case caipirinhas break out. Straight up, I'll pass.

It is funky. The Monkey nailed it between our posts, but I am drinking it on the rocks.
this one is amber, many prefer LeBlon which is white.

well you sure are a fast learner.

the back label mentions banana notes on the nose, though the website does not, but they are there for sure.

and you are the only place mentioning the funk, and that is there as well. nice catch.

this is very fine sipping rum and it is going right to my head, the big one. I sense that I will pick out something slightly different in subsequent sessions.

So I see how much you like that funky thang, it's in this, it's in Lost Spirits. So I am no longer afraid to suggest you try an amber/gold Cachaca. price almost doesn't matter. Currently I have a bottle called Seleta, gifted from a fine Brazillian fellow who works for me. Blesses me every day.Too rough for most rum lovers, too funky for neat drinkers, might find a spot in your rotation, maybe not. Let me know if you can't find, but don't worry cuz it is not elite stuff.

picked up a bottle today, first one I have even seen around here, and it was $20...and I love it.

Your assessment compared to the Jamaican could not be more accurate, but I love this Barbados version.

I'd go so far as to say zero funk factor. The range that exists in the rum category is astounding. When someone tells me they do not like rum, I want to say that it's like saying they don't like vegetables or fruit...the choices are too vast to not find an agreeable expression.

Zacapa 23. Like drinking brown sugar. A little too sweet for me, but exceptional nonetheless.

I should point out that it is a 5 year "signature blend" not Vintage...

but a great one in it's category

maybe not the right one to pair with a smoke, however.
