I bought a 5 pack of these in the Corona (Alvarito) size on CBID and thought I had uncovered a real treasure. The first one I smoked was amazing, maybe one of the top 5 I have ever smoked. Since, I have smoked 3 more and they have been pretty crappy. My last one I gave up after smoking 2/3 and tossed it.

Is this inconsistency? I have an excellent humi and keep it at between 68 and 70% and do everything I know of to keep my cigars in top shape. I don't seem to have any issues with other brands. Is this common?

Eh..............the short answer is yes..........in can be a problem...........even in the same fiver, or box, etc.
I'm having that problem right now with some Oliva V samplers I got over a year ago..............so far at least one in each sampler has tasted like an ashtray..........in one of the samplers, 3 out of 5 were like that!
It's not my storage, blah blah.....................Internet cigars!
