Harvey Haines here. I've never done a cigar trade before, but I'm interested and I wanted to clear something up:

Is cigar paraphernalia ever traded?

As a welder, making ashtrays is just a logical sum of my parts. (i.e. Smoking cigars and fabricating steel containers.) I'd be interested in sending an ashtray instead of or with cigars for the trade, but only if it isn't considered bad form. Obviously the recipient would be asked first, but should that just not happen? Don't want to upset anyone!

Thanks guys,

HMH

Yeah man go for it, people love those kinds of things especially if they're custom engraved. Most people also accept beer, wine, whisky, and locally produced specialty foods as well. It's never bad form to throw in a little extra.

One other thing, you might want to edit your post and remove that link. The powers that be do not like competing interests even though you're just a small operation.

Well, if you're interested you can find The Big Purple Barn on Etsy or hit my website: www.bigpurplebarn.com

I'll do regular carbon steel and stainless. All of the pre-made and made-to-order listings online are for items with carbon steel. Finishes vary greatly, and some have Braille personalization.

Also, the trays are made with and without the tabs on which you can rest a cigar. I'm not a fan of the tabs, I rarely put a cigar down when I'm smoking and the tabs are just asking for a clumsy person like me to get caught on them, but I can do them!

That is no longer the survival plan: it's been modified to "drop, cover, hold on." Better start practicing and preparing Harv.
