For those that smoke indoors or in your vehicle, what's your first choice for window cleaning?
I've been dissatisfied with Windex and Glass Plus of late. Seems that both have changed formulas the last couple years and aren't as effective as they once were. Lots of new (to me) products out there. Have you found something that works for you? My wife transitioned from cigars and cigs to vaping and her car windows are even worse than mine.

I don't remember what it's called but my son got some stuff from the chevy dealership that sprays on like a foam... not sure how it would react on nicotine and stuff but works great on bugs... Mellow

Go to the hardware store and get tri sodium phosphate . Follow the mixing directions. After removing the smoke residue clean with water, the glass cleaner, then water.

My grandfather smokes by his bedroom window all the time, the glass gets pretty nasty pretty quickly. When I clean his windows I use regular glass cleaner and a squeegee, wiping down with a paper towel after. Seems to do the job very nicely.

Another good option is dawn dishwashing liquid, you will know you have enough mixed in when your sponge starts showing dark tan on it. BTW the TSP should be sponged as well. Wear gloves with the TSP, it is quite basic. With either TSP or Dawn your first step is washing. The first water step is rinsing off the resedue. For either you then use glass cleaner, then water.

I have had good luck in the past with newspaper, certainly. But never tried homemade sauce. Is that mixed 1:1 ?

I don't recall Dave my wife made it up and it works reasonably well that being said I went searching and found this funny yet well done test of homemade concoctions

http://www.crunchybetty.com/battle-of-the-homemade-glass-cleaners

This was The Winner:

1/4 c. rubbing alcohol
1/4 c. white vinegar
1 Tbsp cornstarch
2 c. warm water

Nothing IMHO works better than newspaper for the wiping material as long as it's black /white pages

I always used this too. 1 to 1 works well for me.

The PG in the vape liquid is hell to clean. It's like cleaning your windshield after a heater core rupture

I used to own a professional window cleaning service. My personal experience is having cleaned tens of thousands of windows over the years:

In a bucket full of water, squirt a few tablespoons of Joy Dish Soap. Add a few cups of plain ammonia. Wash the window well with a sponge or rag. Use a squeegee to clear the water off the window. Be careful because the wash water coming off the window will be gross (dirty) and could stain carpet, drapes, etc.

Good luck!!

Armor All makes a glass cleaner that works better than any I have ever tried and it's pretty cheap too.

Was it "Sprayway"? A blue & white can. The stuff works pretty well on tar, nicotine and whatever else is left in sticking to the windows from smoke.
