If it's CAO...RUN~

It's a bad cigar next year.

They cannot manufacture a decent cigar past a 1st release.

I can confirm this.

I'll never trust CAO again after their shenanigans with the original version of this stick, called "The Sopranos". The first run was excellent, then very quietly without changing the name, band, vitolas or anything else, they SERIOUSLY downgraded the quality to something that was almost unsmokeably bland and bad.

Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice, shame on ME.

Avoid!

The CAO Pilon is a very good smoke and was, FWIW, recently rated very highly my CA Magazine. The big question is if will stay that way.

Used to like CAO Extreme and Maduro when they first came out, but as others have already said... the company has gone south. Their 'bait and switch' has been exposed.

I know what you mean, I was disappointed with my second batch of Extremes at first, but I smoked one not too long ago, it was pretty good. Probably got a year on it.

Also the CAO America. First batch was excellent. After that, went to total crap.

It's possible they do what many other industries do, for example the razor blade industry. Introduce a new product, use the finest German steel for the first 6 months to let the "consumers" develop a "brand preference", then go cheap with crappy Chinese steel after that, perpetually, and hope the "brand preference" will stick while you make major bank because of the greatly-lowered costs.

I had a college professor back in the day who told us all about that widespread trick. He said if you like a brand-new type of razor blade, buy as many as you can within the first 6 months of their release, because you'll be getting "the good stuff" before they dumb it down.

I'm never buying CAO's stuff again.

One hint is when the sticks start showing up in the very inexpensive bundles and deals. If it comes with a bunch of others and the $19.99 humidor, watch out!
