Apologies to Dr. King:

I have a dream that one day this site will be MAP free and live out the true meaning of free enterprise. "We hold these cigars to be rolled upon the thighs of virgins: that all Fuentes are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the banks of a river in Oregon the illegitimate sons of the owner of a van and the sons of his drugged victims will be able to sit down together at the table of BOTL/SOTL-hood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Pennsylvania will have broadleaf as good as Connecticut.

I have a dream that one day my four coolers of cigars will one day find a standup humidor where they all can live and not be judged by the color of their wrapper but by the content of their filler and binder.

I have a dream today.

Amen brother of the leaf!!!! Aaaaaaaamen!!!!

You won't ever find Padron on here either. I miss the days of Padron on cbid.

AJ Fernandez went MAP with his non CI liscenced lines several years ago and I have bought a grand total of 1 of his cigars in a shpo since he went to MAP. San Lotano maduro oval toro was my first favorite cigar. I've still got one left out of the kitchen sink sampler I got from CI when I was first committed to the asylum.

Still deals to be had before the FDA shuts this place down.

I often wondered about Padron, too, because I love them, who doesn't, but AJ Fernandez is interesting as well. I've been wanting to try the New World, but they're usually gone too. Interesting how some things work.

OK, I'll bite.

What does the acronym MAP stand for? I'll guess that the M is for manufacturer's and the P is for pricing.

In any case, while I've become a huge cbid fan, I also have wondered why it isn't much of a Fuente auction site.

OK, why is cbid limited to the minimum advertised price, but other sites are not?

Please PM me an auction site that is selling Fuentes outside of MAP.
I know my way around a bit, and I haven't seen it.

By the way, has Cameroon talked to you about your handle yet?

Fuentes are good cigars ... some are very good cigars ... but, they are not the only good cigars ... there are many very good cigars on the market right now, probably more than at any other time in history ... I don't worry too much about Fuente not being available here ... there are more than enough high quality cigars that are ...

To me, several of my cigar buddies, and a good portion of Internet cigar forum folks (based on a lot of Googling for stuff like "most overrated brand" and similar search terms), Fuentes have little to no flavor and are therefore horrendously overpriced and overrated.

Other people love them. It's well-known that genetics plays a large part in the sense of taste and how it varies between inviduals.

But I, and a lot of other guys, aren't shedding any tears over them not being prominent on cbid, and wouldn't care if the Fuente company folded forever tomorrow, either.

Dem's not fightin' words, we fellas just have different DNA from some of the rest of you. We probably like a lot of cigars that many of you hate, too. It's quite interesting.

Completely agree. It's why cbid is such a wonderful site. If you're somewhat flexible, informed and patient, it's a great place to help you get the most for your cigar dollar.

Imagine if Bud or Coors cost $150 a case. To me, and many others like me, that's Fuente.

Yeah ^ a lot of people buy that. Enjoy yourself!

Regular AF's, I find, are always well made - never a construction or burn problem, but the flavor not what I expect for the money. As I noted in the blendlab thread, the Blendlab 444's were originally made FOR AF to be stronger & more flavorful versions of the short-story, but were rejected by Carlos. They actually taste better IMO than the real short-story, although the AF's are consistently better constructed.

The true Opus X are very very good cigars in every way, but so expensive, might as well go high-end CC!

You CAN find (non-OpusX) AF's at "auction-eer" type sites going for less than retail. Don't ask me how they get away with it.

As long as there's always some 858SG's and a few Opus in my coolers, I could care less about the brand.....I know I'm in the minority here....and I've had a couple different FOGS RAOK me with R44's.....but .....I love 858SG....you can have the rest....especially Anejos and Hemi's....total blind spot in my taste buds....I wouldn't call them overpriced, though....they are for me, but a LOT of experienced cigar smokers pay MAP for them, so I don't see them as Bud Lights.

Nice speech there, Conan!
This is an interesting read. I have to admit, not every Fuente blend is a favorite but I've never had one I didn't like.

It's not the FDA so much as the insurance companies, they don't want people smoking if it means having to dole out for hospital bills later. They can't go after McDonalds, so they're picking on the cigar industry.
Money talks and the FDA squaks and insurance has their metaphoric peckers in everyone's metaphoric mouths.
Take Monsanto, for example, the US and Canada are the only countries in the world that hasn't banned fluoride because it rots your teeth and causes dementia and depression, but it's still in your friggin drinking water innit?
The FDA doesn't give a rat's ass about your health and if they ban cigars, we need to put on our marching boots for sure!

I'm a Cheep Prick and I approve of this message.
