tRUMP ROAST: Being President is HOT

This is the sequel to the "Presidentin be Hard" thread that was one of the most popular threads in the Political forum. It has faded from the scene, as Obummer bummed out. But political satire lives on, as President Thumpher begins his reign...

Anybody remember Baghdad Bob, the spokesman for Saddam Hussein, during the early stages of the Iraqi War? He said stuff like, "President Saddam wishes his people the best, and has provided a nightly fireworks show for your entertainment!"

Well Thumpher's spokesman, Sean "Spiceitup" Spicer said, "Due to the broken Washington DC MetroRail system, which we'll fix tomorrow, BTW, many millions of people were late to President Trump's inauguration. We are very glad they were able to come the next day."

The cable car a half a block from my house has been broken every day since trump became president.

Clearly a failed presidency.

(This is how it works right? I'm just trying to go off the example from the past 8 years)

What I heard it didn't think was anything more than bs. But I don't think it's trump's fault. I'd bet he had nothing to do with writing that speech (it was also too coherent to be his)... of any of the million things we can judge him for... that speech is likely not one.

But I'm shocked to not see anyone here complain of his use of a teleprompter. Didn't we see that complaint 8 years ago?

yep...Conway told us yesterday, with a straight face, that they will provide alternative facts. She basically said that Thumpher doesn't trust the media so he will tell us whatever he wants and we have to accept his alternative facts as the truth. Aren't alternative facts make believe, falsehoods, not real?

Then she said Thumpher won't release his tax returns because the American people don't care (if he cheats on his taxes, lies about income/losses, has debt sources in Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, owns business interests in foreign countries where the U.S. has opposing interests) about his tax returns: they only care about their own tax returns and whether Thumpher can lower their taxes.

So, we are all gullible selfish morons who will believe a self-dealing liar as long as the liar gives us some money?

On the upside she now says he will release his taxes once the audit is done... I could have sworn that sitting presidents aren't able to be prosecuted for anything prior to their presidency... don't know why the audit would be going on still...

Some legal scholars support the idea that a sitting President can't be charged and prosecuted for criminal behavior prior to or during his term. If so, prosecuting a President would give the Judicial branch a huge power over the Executive. A potential criminal prosecution could happen after the President leaves office, if the statutes of limitation allow, or are argued to have been stayed. This has never happened and nothing has been codified, so it's all speculation.

There is the impeachment process, where a sitting President can be held accountable. It requires the Congress, specifically the house first to begin the process to determine that the President has committed "high crimes and misdemeanors." There isn't an indication or definition of what that is, or whether that includes conduct before taking office, except a low bar was set when lying about a BJ was considered a high crime/misdemeanor, an impeachable offense. As long as the House is solidly GOP, that isn't going to happen, regardless of what Thumpher has done, or will do.

As for an on-going audit, isn't the IRS an executive branch, and Thumpher their boss? He's going to direct them to keep auditing, then lose the file just before he leaves office...

Alternative fact: Thumpher tweeted he had a "great meeting at C.I.A. Headquarters in Langley. Packed house, paid great respect to Wall, standing ovations, amazing people.WIN!"

http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/trumps-vainglorious-affront-to-the-c-i-a

The truth: CIA officials said "not." They contend Trump disrespected the Memorial Wall and all those who sacrificed their lives while protecting our country.

Former Director John Brennan said, “despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of C.I.A.’s Memorial Wall of Agency heroes.”

Ryan Crocker, former intelligence officer, who went on to serve as the U.S. Ambassador in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Kuwait, said. “As he stood there talking about how great Trump is, I kept looking at the wall behind him—as I’m sure everyone in the room was, too. He has no understanding of the world and what is going on. It was really ugly.”

CIA officials hoped that Trump wanted to see the operations center, where the clandestine drone warfare is directed against ISIS. It would give him advanced and detailed knowledge of the real intelligence work that happens on a daily basis. Thumpher declined...

Alternative fact: Thumpher met with union leaders and discussed ways to create good jobs, including rebuilding infrastructure. He also signed an executive order to build the wall on our border with Mexico.

Looks like we're gonna build the wall, but we're gonna pay for it, in the beginning. Not Mexico. Estimates of the cost to build it range from $15 to $25 Billion.

Trump and Majority Rep Ryan say that Mexico will pay/contribute anywhere from 100% to some amount. Details coming soon...

NY Times reports that Russian media says three FBS (formerly the KGB) intelligence officials have been fired. One was in charge of cyber-security, the unit that was implicated by U.S. intelligence looking for Russian govt. links to the hacking during the elections. He is being charged with treason. Another cyber-security specialist, suspected of assisting in the hacking scheme was also arrested. A third high-ranking official, one in charge of counter intelligence had also been fired earlier. These purges and arrests followed the publication of the Russian hacking report by U.S. intelligence.

Article suggests it has been very rare for FBS to divulge this type of malfeasance by top officials. Russian government continues to deny involvement in any hacking scheme and FBS refused to comment on the arrests.

Is Thumpher the most protested President ever? Seems people have been in the streets griping about something he's done every day during his first ten days in office.

He has engaged the masses...

Reminds me of the 60's...

Thumper shows he hates America and loves Putin. He told Bill O'Reilly on Fox that he "respects Putin, the leader of his country" and that the "U.S. is not so innocent" when O'Reilly said during the interview that Putin is a killer, referring to the assassinations of his political opponents, widespread bombing of civilians in Ukraine and Aleppo...

Amazing...didn't we take out Saddam Hussein, and condemn other dictators for that type of behavior?

Al, what did he say that was wrong?

Someone recently posted about the recent mission that got the Navy Seal killed and how dumb it was. What were we doing? We were in a foreign country and civilians did get killed.

Cake and eat it too Al.

I don't get how the left can go from Gorbie not being a bad guy to this in my lifetime. The only thing that's changed is they are about the green ($) not the red (commie) now. And the left is cool with going to war with them for them protecting their interests.

And is he really as bad as Biden? Give me a ****ING break.

Gorbachev was the total opposite of Putin. His policies of glasnost and peristroika were very democratic, not communistic, and led to peaceful relations with the U.S. and President Reagan and the west. His leadership ultimately resulted in the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. and the end of the Cold War. He helped to end the nuclear arms race by negotiating with the west and reduced the world's nuclear arsenal, starting with those in the USSR. He stopped USSR aggression against its neighbors and began the withdrawal from Afghanistan. He helped usher in a safer, more peaceful world.

Unlike Putin, he didn't gain and maintain power by killing his rivals and their families, taking control of his country's election process to stay in power, and taking control of his country's biggest industries for personal gain. Unlike Putin, Gorbachev didn't invade and annex neighboring countries, dropping bombs on their people in the process, or prop up a dictator by helping to wage war on his opposition, killing thousands of civilians in the process and turning that country into a war-torn wasteland, flooding the world with refugees.

Trump's statement about the U.S. not being so innocent implies that we in the U.S. do all these things and are equivalent to the behavior of a dangerous dictator, whom he repeatedly says he respects.

I'm not advocating going to war with Russia, that's the last thing we should do. That may be the end of the world... But Trump should be more vocal in opposing Putin's agenda when it threatens democracies in Europe, and the U.S.

Retired four star US Army General Barry McCaffrey, a distinguished soldier who served during hot and cold wars and understands the difference between the U.S. and Russia. I defer to his service, education, training, experience and judgment in characterizing the words uttered by Thumpher.

Gen McCaffrey said Trump's words are the "most un-American statement ever made by an American President."

Gorby and Putin don't compare.

I have a similar question though. Why was it ok for Reagan to deal arms directly to the same group of people that took over our embassy and took hostages but it's not ok for anyone following Reagan?

I think Twitler has the same strategy- he lies and then denies he said it. And fake news is now anything emanating from the White House.
