You can belittle her credentials all you want. The result is the same, although now I at least understand where you're coming from.
The point is still valid: You toe the company line or you get fired. Even when your dissent is outside the workplace.

Meteorology degree from Cornell.
Masters in Technology from Harvard.
Years in the meteorology field. Studying weather and computer simulations.

I'm not saying she's right. But I am saying that she's more deeply invested in this subject matter than most of the so-called consensus lemmings who ignore the data they're told to ignore.

The more I hear terms like "settled science" the more I realize that the science community as a whole is assigned to collecting a paycheck rather than collecting or interpreting data. It's no different than back in ancient times when people thought the earth was flat and to say otherwise would result in ridicule.

2 people sitting in a basement is where you're basing your "scales" of Truth?

Do you pick restaurants by throwing darts?

A meteorologist has to have a working knowledge of weather, but by all means...2 people crammed in with their cats furiously debunking everything from UFO's, Climate Change and Is W the dumbest President with nothing but their own biases is a block of investigative journalism to you?

Imagonnaletyoufinsih and all, but I'm gonna put this here...

Awful lot of 100 year/500 year storms, droughts and floods lately- but it couldn't be extreme weather from climate change ?

Could be BUT, there is no PROOF only statistics which prove nothing. Statistics can prove the earth is flat but we now know that's not true, just have to wait and see on the man made climate change thing. Check back in a couple hundred years, but they'll prolly still be arguing over it. For now I say "DRILL BABY DRILL!"

What statistics do you think prove the earth is flat?

All depends on who you ask and what the questions are. Looks flat to me so, I guess it is.

If I ask ten people "does the earth look flat from where you're standing?" And eight people say "yes" then statics prove the earth is flat. All about who does the asking.

On day 2 or 3 we were shown a bridge with about 6000 I beam pieces....prof put a 5 ton truck on one end and asked us to find the shear stress on a bolt on the other end.....from then on I did a lot more bud (and buds) than statics

No, merely an illustration of why statics alone don't actually prove anything.

Statistics of a dumb test are no smarter than a dumb test.

But to say your statistics proved the earth is flat is plain dumb.

Exactly. Statistics can prove anything therefore they prove nothing.

... tests, experiments, and measurements prove things. Statistics or these items are a way to display the data in a manner that is understandable.

Tony was providing some level of measurement (not much of one I'll admit) ... you called it statistics and then claimed they can prove anything and went on some rant against statistics...

What you say is true, statistics or measurements in this case were used to support a point of view. However, in order for an experiment to be accepted as proof in the scientific community it must be repeatable under controlled conditions. The study in question used different methods of data collection to support their argument. That proves nothing. Just more statistics.

No, ah - not so much.

My takeaway from previous threads here is that there is no source of information on the subject that is acceptable or can be trusted. None. At least not on Cbid.

You can't trust any government, any scientist, or any engineering or scientific agency. The word I see here is that from the UK, to NASA - NOAA to Bill Nye - there is no information or data of meaning on this. Purely a political football.

So we are left to our own education (good luck with that) and observation.

Of cource, lacking all else, one could just follow the money and deduce the lay of the land.
But that litmus paper test has failed here too....

The district and FOE claimed the lunch program was healthier than before, but only on the basis that food from plants is typically healthier than meat. The study justifies its health claims by stating average poultry consumption fell. FOE did not undertake an actual study into whether or not the lunches improved student health.

definitely see a pattern here.... Mellow

So, no study into whether or not the lunches actually improved student health....but as long as it makes you feel good making that change.. then it is all good.

Consequences be damned!

Intent is the only thing that matters, not results.
