I was at a cigar bar in the city of Chicago that same cigar was selling for 25$ that didn't include the 1.23 cigar tax and 9.5 retail tax. City taxes a bytch. I am so spoiled I won auction nub 360 single for 3$ on here and refused to pay 11.59 for same at cigar. Hell I won a 5 pack for 17.00 of Gurkha and 1 cigar was 17.00 with tax it was 20$..

Welcome! Thanks for an enlivening first post that manages to be both "who cares" and "wrong thread" all in one! Do you mind if we call you "Shartin" -- as "sharting onto your keyboard"?

This is 2017! Why hasn't this thread been put to death years ago?

I bet it has something to do with platinum membership.

You kind of expect the popular/high dollar stuff to generate bidding wars and go closer to retail, but the past few days I'm seeing lots of bundles, off-brand, 2nds, etc going for near full retail.

Yes and then I found some fairly decent boxes selling for less... It is a mad mad world!!!! Have the newbies discovered the closing today option at least not as a whole?

Thanks for your stellar contribution, Howie. As always, your intellectualism abounds. Most people would read the thread and understand what "overbidding" means before posting. It takes a man of great acumen to just jump right in there with worrying about looking like a clown. Kudos.

Sorry to disappoint you. I guess it's tough to compare to the intellectual maturity of a guy whose main contribution seems to be making childish jokes about people's screen names

My comment was simply that I noticed a shift in the types of products where overbidding is occurring recently, presumably as a result of the general panic of the CBid meltdown. But thanks anyway for misunderstanding and applying the sarcasm

I hope they pack an instamatic camera in with that order so we can see the reaction on his face when he opens up the box and looks in.

Once in a great while I like to stop by the C-Bid forum and check on the latest overbidding thread. Yep, they're still overbidding, and we're still writing about it. I must say, the overbids when I started here look like bargains today. hahahaha

Agreed ... and, evidently it was going on well before you and I first popped in here ... way back 100 years ago during Wilsons administration, his VP famously told the Senate that "what this country needs is a good five-cent cigar" ...

Well played, Howie. It seems that a lot of the veteran posters here are hung up on hazing less-veteran posters by wanting to make their screen names into something more denigrating. I post on a lot of cigar sites and this is the only one where I've seen this. They're dickheads.

I only post here when I absolutely need to. Suggest you do the same.

Well, I sure as hell wouldn't bid like that for those ... but frankly, I probably wouldn't bid at all for them ...
BUT ... it's not exactly an overbid when your bid is a buck and a half less than the CI price ...

I just checked a couple of others and they're 7.50 to 8.50 for singles. Not that I want any mind you.

Pays to look around a bit.

Cigarbid auction prices really show how cigar aficionado inflates prices and demand with their bloated reviews and shows just how many people really do follow their reviews. I'm glad I don't pay them any attention.
