Hi
Delta1 and I were involved in a conversation about the strange cigar taste descriptions in a different post. He said he has a properly cared for cigar that tastes like dust (not just a hint, glimmer or even a fair amount of dust 😁😁😁) and offered to give me one to illustrate his point. Now unlike some other taate descriptions, I believe it is possible one might have an idea about the taste of dust. Yes I have experienced similar things(strong unexpected flavors) . For example, I smoked a Triple Maduro Camacho (first release) that tasted like butter, full on dominant flavor. Never had that experience before or after with two +decades of cigar smoking and a number of Triple Maduros,it was a very unique experience. Delta1 says this one is strong with dust. Granted I do not expect pure dust to blow me away(Now that I have had time to think about it, I have tasted what I think is dust like flavor in a cigar before but not as the dominant flavor.), so we made this exchange more interesting and agreed to trade a reasonably priced fiver. I am very happy and should have known when delta1 said only/strictly a fiver he would cheat. Cheat he did in a very nice, generous and thoughtful way. Here is what was delivered today...
Herfing Herfing Herfing Herfing Herfing
Crystal Baller Surrogates
LaPalina Red Label
LaAurora Untamed
My Father Centurion
San Lotano Oval Connecticut
Casa Magna Oscuro
Unknown label
The dusty cigar.
Two packs 1.25 oz Pacific Gold Beef Jerky
He was very specific five and only five plus the dusty cigar. namely (Drum Roll)Torano Tribute.. I have not smoked it yet, but knowing that Torano has not been what it was,delta1 is probably right.

PS To delta1 I kept it reasonable as requested. I will say two of the cigars sent have 10-13 years on them,so I cheated a little as well..

Thanks for the trade qmech. I tried to send you some of my fave "everyday" smokes: good variety of flavors, good value for $5 - $6, not the usual same olds...and found that I had more than 5 which met the criteria for the trade... and couldn't make up my mind which were the best...so...hope you enjoy them...

The jerky is packing material to keep the cigars from banging around in transit...

My intent is never to upstage...send cigars that I like...and to avoid disappointing...

I did not take it as upstaging Delta, just a bit of humor in my post along with my sincerest thanks.... So keep it up!!! I would be willing to receive such a nice package any time and hope to again someday. Your generous nature speaks well of you..

I have smoked a variety of sticks through the years from top end (Rare Padron Ann., Exclusive Habanos, rare Fuente, Tats,Ligas, Davidoff , boutique brands etc. etc. ) to middle to yard cigars.. While I enjoy the cigars at the top end, my budget does not allow such things on a regular basis. As such the middle ground is where I do allot of my hunting. A middle ground where hidden gems await that can be just as good or better than some in the upper tier. No snobbery here if the cigar is great it is great.....Good job delta good job !!

^ #12 Many Connecticut leaf wrapped cigars are typically very mild. The San Lotano Oval is an exception. There is a layer of complexity, with some spice and a little pepper.

qmech's package arrived today, and I am thankful that we arranged this trade. He sent a few cigars that I have not tried and am looking forward to the experience; a couple of old faves, and two ancient Perdomos that have avoided the fire for too long...

A Flores Gran Reserva, nh
Duran Neya F8, nh
Brick House Mighty Mighty, old fave, albeit in smaller vitola
Oliva V, old fave
Perdomo 2
Perdomo Estate Seleccion

The cello wrappers on the two Perdomos testify to their age - 10 and 13 years old. yellowed and nearly brown yet still pliable.
It is apparent now that I may have been hasty in thinking that qmech is a noob, and that we shouldn't judge a member's cigar experience by his Joined Date. I thank him for expanding my horizons.
