IMO, it is exactly this sense of entitlement that is a major factor in steering our great nation into difficult times.
==================================================

Go read the link in the above text. If you want to call someone a mooch, come right out and say it. You sir can KMA if you think I believe I have a "sense of entitlement".
Who the hell made you the entitlement police?
I posted that some companies have a policy. You didn't make a single attempt to verify what I posted (so I provided you with a link...) and chose instead to call me a mooch. FU ****.

Store policy aside, the OP made it clear he got away without paying suggesting this was an error on the store's part and he did not intend to return the windows or offer to pay for them....

DrafterX,

"I explain the problem and she tries to scan one and has no luck then she starts typing a bunch of crap in the register. I'm watching her so I can see what she is doing so I don't get over charged and before I know it she says to me OK it's all taken care of and gives me my total."

If they come over to help the cashier, and I explain my problem, which they verify and then input the info to correct the problem, and give me the total, I would have to assume it was the stores policy (which has happened to me before, thats why I knew it could be a stores policy, they've explained it to me before).
Why would I pay for the windows?
They were told of the problem, and they set the price.
Should I volunteer to give them $2 for a Coke because I think thats what it should cost? Of course not.

Read the article I posted. This kind of thing happened all the time. You may have had it happen to you and didn't even know they were under/over charging you.
If they found they had overcharged you during an audit of their scans, are they going to come to you and give you a refund? I doubt it. They would correct the coding and nothing more.

And as far as HomeDepot is concerned, a friend of mine just got a mistagged BBQ for the misquoted price because he asked about the price while comparing it to another correctly quoted BBQ. They gave him the BBQ, at the price on the tag (they even assembled the BBQ for him for free... just for pointing the error out), and then immediately removed the misquoted tag so it didn't happen again.
Should he have volunteered to pay more than they were asking?

you stated you were not aware there was a problem until after you were 15 miles down the road... you thought you got away without paying and they made an error... you had a good laugh about it....

call the store... explain what happened to them... ask if it their policy.. if so, great... you'll sleep better..

pte,
Thanks for the kind words. You are correct. I did not verify Home Depot's policy. (Which, of course, must be "If one of our employees makes a mistake, feel free to take whatever you can get away with, even when you know that it is wrong. We are a big, rich company, so why should you care if we pass on the costs from your thievery to our more scrupulous customers?")

You are also correct that perhaps your words don't convey the same sense of entitlement that some others here have. I may have misinterpreted. I do, however, believe that your comment below suggests a certain lack of civility shared by those that do feel entitled.
"Since it was the head checker, and not a trainee, I wouldn't pay for anything because he/she should've known the system well enough to accurately determine the price of the item."
To me, that is stealing if you believe the store was still making a mistake. I would feel different if the head checker or manager said, "Sir, sorry we screwed up, these two windows are on us."

Of course, I am not the entitlement police, nor the good intentions police. I will try to avoid judging you in the future.
Appreciate the intelligent discourse. And a hearty FU to you also, good sir.

-dave

I do all my checkouts by telepathy....You wouldn't believe the money I save. They even have these noise makers when I walk through the doors.....these make me so happy I run to my car with store employees behind me cheering me on.

I just shoplift all my sh1t so I can skip the self-checkout line.

CE shot is was and faded away quickly after his debut. I joined about 9 months before he walked out the door and never came back. When I find some time I need to go back and read his posts after 2/12 to see if I can jar my memory.

Was he the one who usahog pissed off so bad it led to his departure. I vaguely remember a few of hog’s epic rants. Not sure if hog departed before or after my debut. Either way he was one-of-a-kind. Especially when he explained things such as the Germany bombing Pearl Harbor.

Didn’t hog frequently volunteer to travel hundreds of miles to have an eye to eye discussion with those whom had conflicting viewpoints?
