Yeah, I see that they keep sensing tanks down the line over here. Gas already shot up 30 cents too. Govt must be getting those fuel contracts in order.

I imagine that has been a topic of discussion down in Florida for the past 12 hours or so. Hopefully, Rodman will head over for a visit a few hours before. Two birds with one stone so to speak.

During an interview this past January with National Public Radio, former National Security Adviser Rice touted the “success” in Syria, in striking a deal with Russia's help that resulted in the prior administration dropping the threat of military action.

“We were able to find a solution that didn’t necessitate the use of force that actually removed the chemical weapons that were known from Syria, in a way that the use of force would never have accomplished,” she boasted. “We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile.”

Rice has come under fire for making misleading comments in the past. Most recently, she grabbed headlines for allegedly being tied to allegations of improper surveillance of the Trump team prior to his inauguration.

Rice isn’t the only Obama-era official who made self-congratulatory statements about removing chemical weapons from Syria.

In July 2014, then-Secretary of State John Kerry went on NBC’s “Meet the Press” to discuss the September 2013 deal that resulted in Russia agreeing to help confiscate and then destroy Syria’s stockpile.

“We struck a deal where we got 100 percent of the chemical weapons out,” Kerry claimed.

Without congress...here we go again. Kick O'Bannon out and bring the Bushie acolytes in and voila here ya go. One of his major campaign themes was non-interventionism and less than a hundred days wham.

The UN said they had zero Chem weapons, and the last Chem weapon claim was false. This is all BS. Assad is winning the war and stood to gain nothing, this sounds like an excuse to blow up jets to help the "rebels" we've armed and funded.

I posted the stuff below earlier today in the bromance thread, probably belongs here too...yes, strictly anecdotal, and I don't necessarily consider it a reflection of Syrians' or Syrian Americans' feelings in general on the matter, just one man's thoughts that cover the bromance and the air strikes:

I have a relationship of many years in town with Syrian born brothers who own a gas station/auto mechanic shop. They fly the American flag at their business.

I asked Brother Sammi this morning what his take is on what just happened. His opinion is that he is glad Trump ordered the action, wished Obama had not gone to Congress and done the same as Trump, believes Hillary was calling for the same action a few years ago when chemicals first were used and thinks a big opportunity was wasted by not moving ahead without Congress back then knowing he would never get backing for anything.

But he went on to say that very little was accomplished, glad it was limited to airport areas rather than harming the people, but seemed calculated to be very limited in actual effectiveness. I asked to explain and he said that the airport resumed activities within hours, and he felt Trump and Putin had a wink wink deal to make Trump look Reagan-strong to Americans as they exchanged strong words that sound like their relationship has been damaged.

He added that anything that helps remove the dictator would have to be considered positive...despite the unknown future. He is not optimistic about the future of his birth nation.

Overall, he supports Trumps particular actions, but thinks he and Putin are complicit narcissists and does not think much will change.

^What he said. For those who don't remember, I'm a right leaning Libertarian, and this attack troubles me. I thought Trump was suppose to be all "America First". I don't see how this attack benefits the American Citizen. Too many unanswered questions to be pro or con at this point in time.

whether Trump lists right or left, he will always lean toward "me first". He will never miss an opportunity to promote himself.
I can't imagine an American over the age of 15 finding this to be a surprise.

That said, I am hoping for many things to work toward a better world...whether popular or not today.

I served 4 years active and 3 years reserves. That being said I'm no fan of armed combat. That being said I also served 12 years in law enforcement before taking an early retirement. My experience has taught me that without wolves there is no peace. Absent someone standing up to the bullies, the weak will perish. This action should have been taken when the line in the sand was crossed. Trump simply sent a very serious shot across the bow. If ignored then the gates of hell should be opened.

This was an act of war, for which the President is obligated by the Constitution to seek authority from Congress.

Seemed a little "wag the doggish" to distract attention from Russiagate, which was pretty intense until then, like when Clinton was President. The difference is that there is hardly any criticism of Trump, whereas the right jumped all over Clinton for his missile strike. Clinton was accused of a distracting, calculated political ploy when he launched some missiles at Libya in the middle of the blue dress scandal. I guess it's OK when a President you like kills people on our behalf...

Hope you're right, and that his move to dump Bannon from the NSC (and intel data access) was a positive sign that he is willing to curtail any and all obstruction of the Russian investigation by members of his staff.

I'm not convinced there ever was a bromance. Trump made an ill advised comment regarding the Russians hacking Hillary's private email server. He also showed an affinity for Putin which isn't surprising since like like Putin Trump has a very strong and relentless personality Not unexpected for a political neophyte. But in true Carvillian style, the Dems used that to triangulate Trump to the Russians.

Regarding the Russian involvement narrative, it's nonsense. Having spent 10+ years in IT security I can say without a doubt that if someone has the ability to identify the origin of something they have an equal ability to imitate it. In essence all one needs to do is used the same code then use anonymous proxies to hide the true origin of the source. It much simpler to do than the pundits would have one believe. That being said it is IMPOSSIBLE to prove whether the Russians did it or our some other entity did it and left a Russian fingerprint.
