Just wanted to report that I won an auction last night. Got an order confirmation about 6 hours later and a shipping confirmation about 5 hours after that.

I still haven't heard from the auctions I won on the 16th but that's another story.

Hopefully, they're back on track for good!

S&H may be caught up, but Cigar Bid is FAR from being back to normal. Still ONLY offer a few dozen NEW 5-Packs a day being posted! Used to be OVER 100 every day except Saturdays, which no new 5-Pack, Box, or Singles auctions start.

I mean 22 5-Packs is SO PITIFUL! Should be about 120
http://www.cigarbid.com/...y/5-Packs/StartingToday

and only 168 Quickes as opposed to over 300 EVERY DAY! before their DOWNGRADE!
http://www.cigarbid.com/Category/Quick-ies/

and only 177 Singles available. Before their Downgrade they always had over 400 up for bid
http://www.cigarbid.com/Category/Singles/

and even boxes are down by 30 for 40 per day. NEVER posted less then 110 per day prior to the downgrade.

I've put off buying Cubans seems I always would toss out a few bids here and I'd win some cigars. Now I don't know when I'll bid again.

Las Calaveras '17 is starting to get some teasers online. Supposedly a combo of '14 and '16. So that's a box buy there and after that maybe a box of Cubans.

Basically I'm saying without a good selection, low winning bids, and fast shipping I have no desire to bid on anything here anytime soon.

This is a chat site, not a cigar shopping site.

Well as far as service and order times hopefully they are back on track. Maybe they weren't stocking as much on the site until it was fixed. I did notice the 5 packs auctions were way down in volume earlier this week. On a good note, if all of the disappointed shoppers did really leave maybe it will be easier for us to find better deals :)

There is one advantage to Cbid's reduced available inventory. I can get to the other sites sooner.

Take a gander at the Cigar Brands page and notice how thin it is compared with the past.

Likewise, scan through their sister site and notice the number of OUT OF STOCK items.Scared

Watched a video on FB where the President of CI apologized and explained the reason for their current issues. I felt his pain.

The problem, he said, is due to implementation of new software systems including new MRP software. I worked for a very large defense contractor that had similar issues when we went 'live' with the new system. Users spent hundreds of hours training and some of the brightest people I've ever known were reassigned from their regular duties to learn the system and plan the implementation. Needless to say, there were MAJOR hiccups that quite literally brought the company to it's knees for over 6 months. We lost track of inventory during the migration of data from the 'old' system and had a $12 million inventory discrepancy. All salaried folks were hands on deck to conduct a physical inventory count every weekend for over three months. That only made things worse due to sloppy counts of high dollar items in packages. (Some counted packaged items as one when there were actually 100 or more in each package....) It was a terrible mess that took well over a year to resolve. The only products we shipped for the first 6 months were for government 'rated' projects which were handled outside the system. I don't know how much it cost the company but I'm certain it was WELL into 7 and perhaps 8 figures.

With that said, the software implementation is a very reasonable explanation for the issues. I'm confident CI will get back on track....their future depends on it. Listening to the video brought back some very bad memories.

Give CI a bit of time to get on track and for the users of the software to learn how to drive the system. If my experience is any indication, customer service will be better than ever once the issues are behind them.

I wish them well.

The Cigar Brands page is still useless. Imagine going to Amazon in search of a certain book and being directed to toilet plungers, quilts and canned tuna.
On the bright side, I'm saving a lot of money.

I will always have strong loyalty for this site as it has been great for me in the past in finding huge bargains on great cigars, getting me to try ones that I otherwise would have passed on, and economically fed my Blendlab obsession for a long time. The service that I have received and quick response to minor mess ups has always been great.

On top of that, the CI Superstore is one of my favorite places on earth.

That being said, I have not purchased anything off of here in quite a long time. Even before the Great Meltdown, there seemed to be fewer and fewer must-bid deals when compared to other sites. Overbids on auctions and QB prices that, with shipping, were no better than other places including, often, the daily or weekend deals at the Mothership.

Now, as pointed out above, it is a bidding wasteland.

I have even joined qmpash in posting a testimonial on another "page." PDR A. Flores Grand Reserve Corojo 2006 Double Magnums for under $2 each including shipping? Damn!

Hoping things straighten out here soon and that I start finding things worth bidding on again.

It was a pretty good video all in all. It did not address the incredible failure of testing the software or the lack of clear communications about what was going on, or the reason so many older orders not out yet.

Here's hoping they get it right. They have lost a lot of customers for sur .

Won auction on March 16th. Got confirmation on 17th but no shipping confirmation ever. Emailed them on April 1st. They said IT department was looking into it. Emailed them again on April 4th, they said my order not even processed but they can manually process but can't guarantee a shipment date.

First time this happened over the last 5 years. What's going on? I canceled my order.

I couldn't agree more. I too have a strong loyalty to both Cbid and CI after years of buying from a competing purveyor of cigars whose name I can't mention but it has only two initials. I travel often to the east coast and always try to spend as much time as possible at the Superstores. But between the shipping delays, the reduction of available inventory, and above all, the sky high prices that are starting to rival the retail prices out here in California even with our sky high taxes, it is becoming apparent that perhaps it is now time to start looking elsewhere.

1) Trish has reminded us over and over that Cigars International and CigarBid are two separate and distinct companies. Most of these posts (including this one) violate the competitor reference rule.

2) I don't care that CI is having computer issues; this is CBid. We've never heard from CBid, not even on YouTube.

3) It might have cost CI and CBid a few extra dollars to cover the phones. That's the cost of not having a solid migration plan. There were LOTS of ways this could have been planned better. Even after things went all fubar, they could have gone manual and supported their customers. Expensive? Yes. But that's part of the cost when you "save" money by not planning well.

4) The are several CigarBid herfs that are completely unsupported. Sure, CBid can't send out a care package every time a few guys get together, but Moose Manor and the Mississippi herf (just two that come to mind) often draw dozens of folks. To be ignored is insulting. It's a trend with CBid to mistreat their community

and least of all

5) In the video he said that there would be "less picking errors." He should have said "fewer." It's not the biggest reason I won't do business here, but it's easier to pile on when the dissatisfaction level is so high. If, as president, you're going to act as spokesman, then at least do that well.

. . . waiting to be banned.

Wow, Big Bear. You are full of the same righteous indignation I was, right before I was banned for life. I was burning bridges and taking no prisoners, just like you. It seemed right at the time, but I came to regret it down the road. From personal experience, you may wish to delete that post, once you've calmed down. You may not give a da*n right now, but you may in the future. As they say, hind sight is 20/20.

used to be that CI was the only 'authorized' reference aside from cigarbid....I assume that is still the case.

No question that other 'separate' entities shared some storage and distribution, and maybe IT and wholesalers.....I'm unaure where DM and P&C actually now fit....but if you do happen to care about the rules, you should be save with mention of CI and avoid the rest....until Trish or someone lets us know otherwise

Then again...whilst the fubar continues in full swing, there don't seem to be any minotaurs.....so, unenforced 'rules' are just words

The answer is still no. Decided to try ordering again. Orders that I would have placed months ago before all this started usually would have shipped by now based on my shipping frequency. My current order is still "being processed". Called customer service. On hold less then 20 minutes, but still left on hold. Once they answered the phone, they could not have been nicer, especially considering what's been going on for some time now and what they have had to deal with. They did confirm that things are still not back to normal.

With availability way down and prices way up, I can't help but wonder if this is not some new business model - move less inventory at higher prices. As I have mentioned before, it's kind of like when the oil refineries claim to "go down for maintenance". The gas pump prices go way up while they deliver less product. Sound familiar?

Without solid, specific information from Cbid, we are all allowed only to speculate and I am speculating that this will be going on for some time, if not indefinitely.
