I understand if a statue doesn't get approved due to current objections.

But to remove one that has historical significance?
Because...feelings?

Instead of removing the statue just build a "serenity room" next to it and include government funded ("free") tissues for the snowflakes and butt-hurt who feel so offended by an historical hunk of rock.

I for one am glad that all of the other problems facing NO and other southern cities/states have been solved so that they have the time and resources to tackle this really important problems facing them. fog

The reverence and symbolism of that place is amazing. Everyone senses it and only speaks in whispers. The way you start at one end and decend into the blackness with all the names. The park at your back is beautiful but you cant bring youself to turn your back to the wall because the view of the park is for the names on the wall not for you. You see people leaving momentos for their loved ones who are long gone, making etchings of particular names and even just touching the wall. Then you slowly ascend out of the blackness until back in the world. It a spiritual place.
