I'm a newb both here and to smoking cigars. Typically I like the Maduro cigars, but tonight I had a nica libre, and we'll just say it wasn't one of my favorites. My question is though, this cigar tasted almost like it was charring, and the smoke was pretty hot through out. Is it possible that this cigar as just to dry or is it typical for this cigar?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

chaser

did you smoke it to fast?
even a robusto should take an hour.

one puff a minute at the most.

Nica Libre is ok...my guess is its prolly just needs a month of rest. I bought a fiver when thy came out and thought they were just ok. For the money brickhouse is similar but much better. If you like medium maduros try the Gurkha Empire series III or Legends series Maroon.

I was going to comment in the same fashion as Prop. When my cigars are burning hot, I have noticed that I had been smoking too fast.

took me about 50 minutes, which has been pretty typical for cigars of the size for me. Normally I do smoke with a buddy, which of course does slow down the smoking so perhaps I was smoking faster since I was smoking alone tonight.

thanks for the help guys. I have a couple more, I will try slowing down on the next one and see if that helps. I'll wash the next one down with woodford and if nothing else, that will help.

Retired? That only lasted 9 months. Been back for almost 2 years as a contractor, same place. This gig should end sometime this year. I'm still hitting up Larry & Pete for some work. I heard our lounge in Winston closed. You still traveling all the time?

Yep. On the road ~50% of the time. I'm not overly shocked on the Winston lounge. Location wasn't the best.
