Sounds like a goodun Dan!!! Was bummed out that I missed out on the special Derby release they did to only one liquor chain in Loiusville, rather quietly at that. It was a barrel selected by Brent Elliott and a team ofothers who tasted a select NINE barrels and all inthe end selected that one barrel,

For the Four Roses fans, FR will launch it's 50th Anniversary Limited Edition small batch release on Jun 10 for $150 a bottle. It will be a blend of OBSV, OBSK, OESV and OBSK.

Happy hunting.

Although the price is slowly creeping up on these as well, probably still great bang for the buck. I'll be looking!

We just got an OESK from the local. its damn good. was only 44.99 plus tax!!!! Price hike is coming though supposedly. Current retail is usually around $60 not on sale. I think its going to $65.

Frank, I think you would like this one a lot. It is aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Sherry butts. If there is such a beast, this is a creamy Scotch.

I've been meaning to get my hands on some of this.... guess I'll really have to now!!

Well we didn't get drawn but that's okay we still had a great time!! One of the two people who did get drawn, declined the purchase of the EJ 18 yr. and one of the attendees behind them snagged it for $129 IIRC. We tried a few whiskies we hadn't had from the HH distillery and came home with several since they did a " one day special " for those attending. Picked up a few E.Craig @ $22 per.
Brought home a bottle of Bernheim Rye / Evan Williams Reserve / (3) Elijah Craig and couldn't pass up a bottle of Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style bourbon ( BIL brought a bottle to Nic. and it was pretty darn good )

BUmmer on not gettin drawn. Sounds like I missed a damn good time! Bernie is great!!!! How much was the Old Fo 1920? Thats one of my favorite non limited new releases. Also I lovvvveeee the bernheim whiskey! Thats good chit for a change of pace.

It has a red label, I think it is their only 12. On a secondary label above the main label it says Sherry Wood.

Frank, I looked up the distillary, the bottle has been discontinued. I will look where I purchased this and pick up a bottle for you if they still have it.

FYI

Less than 20 cases coming to the Sip.

Distribution will be similar to the special releases of years past.

So, I think y'all will know where to look. The trick is, getting the store owner to sell you a bottle.

Very good, the only Rye I have had that is better is Sazerac. Smooth with great flavor. The nose was very good as well. I did open it with a few drops of water.

While on our Bourbon Trail run we picked up a bottle of Angels Envy Rye but haven't tried it yet, was hoping to buy some Sezerac while down there....didn't happen.

Supposedly they were selling at the distillery too. I think on the same day Willett opened back up after a remodeling break and released a 13yr and a 14yr bourbon limit 2 each in their gift shop. M ybuddy bought the max and don't wanna share a bottle. Maybe hes a **** buddy ;D

Did you get this at the gift shop?!?! I've never seen their limited edition ones.

Its haevily influenced by its rum barrel finish. What did they charge at the gift shop? Its not my cup of tea

This Longrow Red all has a lot of internet hype. I wanted to try one of the non-peated but I've only seen the peated ones. What did you think? What did it cost you?

Yeah I wondered about the rum influence...wished we could have tried before buying, IIRC @ or around $90 ( it was our Anniversary so we picked up a bottle )

Wild Turkey American Spirit?!?!?!?!?

Yes, I may just be a simpleton but @ $20 I don't think it's terrible. It's going away isn't it?

Would you believe they were out of Blantons @ the distillery when we were recently there!!!

@Namadio, bought bottle last year or the year before (can't remember) think it was around the 120 range. I really enjoy it, wish I would have bought more than one bottle. The problem with the Longrow Red is it's is released annually in small quantities and every year a different type of red wine cask is used to mature the whisky.

SH*T! I didn't know that; all my family is in Chicago. I guess I need to get them to keep an eye out.

I tried to drive to the distillery in early May but I wasn't able to spend the night and it would've been like 13 hours round trip so I wimped out.

I've been seeing blanton';s missing from more and more shelves lately. Virginia seems to always be stocked. 2 375 ml bottles used to be a few bucks cheaper than a 750.

The last two years I've missed the big red Blanton's private barrel. Hopefully won't make that mistake this year.

Last year it was an email, 1 per person and it went very very fast so I missed.

Two years ago it was at an event of some sort (or maybe that was 3 years ago) very near to the Xmas holidays and I was out of town.

I'd like to think email but its hard to say. They do what they want ;D I know I got a bottle a few years back. They typically get 1 blanton's barrel a year.

Edit: The event was not the early december whiskey fest. It was a smaller thing at BRL HQ on like 23 Dec or some silly date close to the holidays.
