I am retiring from the Air Force at 2pm today. It has been an amazing 28 years. We will be heading down to the Destin/Ft Walton Beach area to start our new chapter in life.

I would like to thank all the folks on here that have supported the military, especially while down range. I still brag about the community on here and how supportive that they were to me and my crews that I took down range. Folks on here donated over 1,000 cigars. It was an awesome act of kindness. One I will never forget.

Thank you
Lt Col David Hetzler (almost retired)

Congratulations David. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement.
If you are passing through or nearby on your way to The Beach , be sure to stop in so we can share a meal, beverage and a smoke.

You need to look up Burner02 as you will be reasonably close to each other

I looked up Destin- ft. Walton beach area..

You are in the far west panhandle area...

One cool suggestion for you....

Take your family or WIFE to BILOXI , MISS...
FOR A THREE DAY WEEKEND...

I think they have gambling boats,
Great seafood restauraunts
And
The GEORGE E. OHR POTTERY MUSEUM...

THAT PLACE IS FANTASTIC...
It's an architectural masterpiece too.

HE was a famous crazy potter who lived in Mississippi back in the 1800's whose pottery pieces now bring $5,000- $35,000 dollars per piece...

Read some internet - magazine articles about him,
He was a very interesting character...

Once you read about him and ( go there ?) and see his pottery style...watch out for his pieces in flea markets, antique stores, garage and yard sales...
I bet you could find one around your area if you get lucky.

His pottery burned down , so some pots may look very black and damaged...even those bring good money....plus cracked or damaged ones are also valuable.

Congrats David!!!

Was hoping to make the gala, but it's not to be.

On the other had, the Beau Rivage in Biloxi is about 1/2 way between here and Destin. Plus, Burner and Monkey as well as a few other fine BOTL are nearby.

You're going to feel "weird" for a few months.................I've seen it enough.
But you'll transition nicely into your next phase for sure.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yesterday was crazy but awesome. I knew I would get a little worked up during my speech, but it was much tougher than I thought. Luckily the folks that were there have been friends and coworkers for awhile so they were pretty supportive when I started to get all boohooey.

It was a great ceremony and a great party afterwards. My celebratory cigar was a Cohiba Robustos Supremos Edition Limitados 2014. Wonderful smoke with a few family and friends.
