So according to tail, trump is floating the idea of implementing a new tax on businesses... an internet tax.

I'm gonna make a few assumptions, because Trump hasn't put out any details on this new tax, other than saying he wants to apply it to Amazon. But as Amazon already pays sales taxes we have to assume this isn't a sales tax. Perhaps it's an internet business tax to levy on internet businesses for infrastructure costs? So it will likely apply to both physical goods sales and services sales (they're gonna tax your porn!). There is no doubt in my mind that if Trump is successful in getting this new tax passed it will be passed on to the consumers and is another situation where the middle class will be hit hardest.

All you Trump supporters, how do you feel about this New tax? Do you support trumps desire to tax your internet purchases? Why did you vote for a socialist?

Have you written your congressman or your president to voice your disagreement with this tax yet? Or are you planning on just letting him pass this internet tax?

Totally OK to sales tax by each state, but no federal tax.

I haven't seen numbers, but I have to think that internet sales MUST have taken a big chunk out of state sales tax revenue. When the web was world wide and free, I was fully supportive of not having any sort of tax structure on internet transactions. But, maybe the time has come to reconsider. I agree with Robert that it should be state-based....essentially to 'compensate' for lost sales tax revenue. Since companies have proven time and time again that they can base themselves anywhere to manipulate local, state, national, international laws, and norms....maybe there's a national flat rate that goes back to the state where purchaser resides? Or only applied to those buyers from states that reside in sales tax states? IDK...but I'm willing to hear arguments for .....along with numbers that demonstrate harm to states caused by lost sales taxes

I hope you're right Paul, if Trump's new internet tax will be used to fund a national healthcare system that covers everybody, he will go down in history as a great American President, regardless of what else happens in his term...

Victor is really taking this one hard.
He's been beaten and ridden hard and put away wet.
At least he keeps on ticking.

This is good drama.

What's the over/under on Vic committing harikari?

I agree, Victor, this whole thing stinks to Hell. All both sides want to do is tax us to death. I'm tired of all the shenanigans and funny business. The federal government has no constitutional right to levy any tax; not even income tax.

Don't misunderstand me Al, I'm not for yet another tax.....these bastards collect enough in this country as it is that we should already all have great healthcare ( like our elected officials ) / awesome infrastructure / etc. etc, until we stop subsidizing other parts the World the US Fed Gov. will continue to fleece it's own to give to others and tell us how big hearted we are.

#6 this is being discussed in Indiana with a new law about business with online sales in excess of certain amount would be forced to pay. There is some federal law about not requiring companies to report unless there is b&m presence in the state. I think South Dakota has a similar law now in litigation that will likely go to the Supreme Court. Anyway long story but the numbers were $77million in lost tax for the state due to online sales with only $2million self reported.

I'm not sure about both sides wanting to tax ALL of us... The GOP is especially keen on NOT taxing the richest among us...

the part that makes sense but has nothing to do with Trump's petulant motivation is in preventing an unfair advantage...eg selling tax free goods in competition with b & m's that can not escape charging and paying the same taxes.

Dave, you make a thoughtful point.

The richest among us already lose over 1/3 of their annual income. Why the hell do they deserve to be taxed more than anyone else? They worked hard building the networks for their money; every man should be allowed to keep what he can cultivate.

well, I'm not staking out a stance on the proper tax rates, but no one pays that % of their real gross earned income.
I'd be amazed if any of the richest among us actually pays anywhere near 1/3, despite living in that bracket. if they do, they are the dumbest mutha *****uas alive.

However, many of the wealthiest have inherited the splendors of those born before them and thus live off of unearned income.

Trump thinks there should be a tax on goods/services provided through the internet.

He said they currently don't pay them (which is a true statement).
He said they should (which a reasonable person would understand that he feels there should be a tax).

You said Trump feels there should be a tax on goods/services provided through the internet.

Not Trumps idea. Was first floated when Barry O was in office.

If truth be known, it probably was Al Gore's idea since he invented the innerweb.

None of them are president.
According to tail, our current president is floating this idea. It's irrelevant if it's been floated before or not... it for not currently exist but our current president apparently wants it to.

What is your opinion of our current president suggesting businesses need to pay a new tax?

Sounds more like something the Trump haters dreamed up.

No new taxes, the government steals more than enough money to get things done that need to be done.

Trump says bat **** crazy stuff every day. I no longer take any of it seriously. I think most of the world does not take him seriously. What I do take seriously is the Pubs and the Democrats are not about for the people anymore. I would rather have had Gary as president, even with his faults, than The Donald, or Hilldog.

LOL!
I've probably spent more time posting how I don't like his tweets then I have supposedly "defending" him.
But you can't accept that.
You need everyone to hate him just as much as you.
And it eats you up to your very core.

It's funny stuff, I gotta say.
