Oh, ok.

I think I threw my two cents on this thread a few different times, don't remember what I put, probably something along the lines of you guys are all retarded for keeping this thread going for so long :D

(Oh ya, retarded is a no-no un-PC word, I forgot, so if I offended anybody... oops)

Climate change is a money grab off of the inevitable.

It's also used to re-focus peoples attention away from other issues.

Climate change is a very valuable tool!

If I was in power, I would try to make money off it :)

Oh... and I like that they moved away from the whole global warming thing and re-branded it as climate change.

I think it's more generalized and ambiguous now, therefore can mean anything no matter which direction the climate moves.

Lol, stupid humans, actually believe they can do something to this planet that hasn't already been done to it.

Edit (after re-reading it):

Lol, I've already tried to make money off it :)

... macs... you want lighthearted... my comment about you being a ***** because you liked it better when the liberals were outnumbered on this board by a larger extent was intended to be funny... a juxtaposition of you whining and tail talking about America being pussifued..... (incidentally... you keep including tw in your list of liberals?)... but you have to get your panties in a wad on that too (again see tails comment... ) and go on about me being a smarmy know it all ... if broads like you knew how to take a joke and didn't get your panties in a wad every time you get called a *****...

I think it's the distance and separation provided by this method of communication, MACS. When we are face-to-face, we rarely discuss politics and are civil, comfortable and find much in common. We perceive each other as friends, rather than adversaries...

I mean...youve known me long enough to know I don't usually care about you being a sensitive Sally who's feefees are hurt when more than 2 people are in a forum with differing opinions than yours.

Mainly I was mocking tail, who wasn't smart enough to check the context of a thread before spouting out something which while proven by the text above him, was contextually opposing what he intended. (Henceforth we should call that "trumping"....)

You know me macs... in my world being wrong is way worse than being a little Nancy about your feels.

Hehe...

I guess smartass or funny is inaccurate.
I mean... I was mocking you intentionally for being a *****... a delicate little flower who needs her safe space.

Mainly because this forum is still mostly conservative. I've been here how many years facing something you are whining about immediately when you are perceiving it as shifting? Whats the mantra of this forum? (Hint... it rhymes with" get a scrote")... but I don't hold your nanciness against you.

Tail on the other hand... he's always wrong. There's nothing worse than that... except maybe not understanding math.

True, but I think that's because Anthony and I had you outnumbered. LOL

Seriously, though... we did talk of politics a few times. I think face to face we're less likely to be sarcastic, we can hear tone and inflection, and we were in a true conversation... actually listening to one another before responding, and being respectful.

It's too easy to become condescending when you're sitting at a keyboard. Just ask Victor...

just a commentary

Quote:
Each year, Earth Day is accompanied by predictions of doom. Let's take a look at past predictions to determine just how much confidence we can have in today's environmentalists' predictions.
In 1970, when Earth Day was conceived, the late George Wald, a Nobel laureate biology professor at Harvard University, predicted, "Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind." Also in 1970, Paul Ehrlich, a Stanford University biologist and best-selling author of "The Population Bomb," declared that the world's population would soon outstrip food supplies. In an article for The Progressive, he predicted, "The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years." He gave this warning in 1969 to Britain's Institute of Biology: "If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000." On the first Earth Day, Ehrlich warned, "In 10 years, all important animal life in the sea will be extinct." Despite such predictions, Ehrlich has won no fewer than 16 awards, including the 1990 Crafoord Prize, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences' highest award.

In International Wildlife (July 1975), Nigel Calder warned, "The threat of a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery for mankind." In Science News (1975), C.C. Wallen of the World Meteorological Organization is reported as saying, "The cooling since 1940 has been large enough and consistent enough that it will not soon be reversed."

In 2000, climate researcher David Viner told The Independent, a British newspaper, that within "a few years," snowfall would become "a very rare and exciting event" in Britain. "Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said. "Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past." In the following years, the U.K. saw some of its largest snowfalls and lowest temperatures since records started being kept in 1914.

In 1970, ecologist Kenneth Watt told a Swarthmore College audience: "The world has been chilling sharply for about 20 years. If present trends continue, the world will be about 4 degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990 but 11 degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age."

Also in 1970, Sen. Gaylord Nelson wrote in Look magazine: "Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian (Institution), believes that in 25 years, somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct."

Scientist Harrison Brown published a chart in Scientific American that year estimating that mankind would run out of copper shortly after 2000. Lead, zinc, tin, gold and silver were to disappear before 1990.

Erroneous predictions didn't start with Earth Day. In 1939, the U.S. Department of the Interior said American oil supplies would last for only another 13 years. In 1949, the secretary of the interior said the end of U.S. oil supplies was in sight. Having learned nothing from its earlier erroneous claims, in 1974 the U.S. Geological Survey said that the U.S. had only a 10-year supply of natural gas. The fact of the matter, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, is that as of 2014, we had 2.47 quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas, which should last about a century.

Hoodwinking Americans is part of the environmentalist agenda. Environmental activist Stephen Schneider told Discover magazine in 1989: "We have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. ... Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest." In 1988, then-Sen. Timothy Wirth, D-Colo., said: "We've got to ... try to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong ... we will be doing the right thing anyway in terms of economic policy and environmental policy."

Americans have paid a steep price for buying into environmental deception and lies.

I read somewhere that Macron plans on having Electric only cars in France by 2030 or something. Germany the same way too. India wants to do the same too. I prefer big oil though because it only takes 10minutes to refill your vehicle after 300 miles not 5 hours.

So... a few important items on your article macs...

1 -... that's 2 years old? Why are you just posting it now? Did some Facebook group start pushing it around or something?

2 - note carefully what is happening. Ice mass is being gained on the top of the Antarctic because of increased snowfall (and has been a steady gain of 200 billion tons/year) . Ice is still being lost at the coasts ... and that loss is increasing. The difference is that they have developed a way to accurately measure the gains on the top of the continent.

3- the article makes a significant statement that this means the rise in oceans they attributed to ice loss at the Antarctic is due to ice loss somewhere else they haven't found. That's significant . That means sh×t's going bad enough that we can't even track it. That beautifully means we're really f+cked...

4- it also means the ice gain in the Antarctic (.23mm annually of ocean level currently) is being added back somewhere as well. So some other part of the planet is losing ice wayyy faster than they were currently able to judge.

5 - we need more money to go to climate study. Figuring this crap out is only due to expensive satellites pulling data in, and expensive scientists crunching said data.

What really gets me is that pretty much all the CO2 production in the US either comes from New Jersey/New York and Chicago. There are no other real polluters in the US. You can pull up Windy or any of those CO2 monitor apps and see that. On the otherhand, Europe has more than a couple problem areas and China's problem areas are pretty large but no other countries have any "Red Zone" CO2 areas other than the EU, China, and the US.

1 - attacking the messenger. That question has nothing to do with the article and everything to do with your leftist tactics.
2 - so ice is lost from one place, and gained in another. Net gain, not loss.
3 - again, lost in one area, gained in another... the rest is you injecting your opinion.
4 - I didn't read that in the article.
5 - Yep... follow the money.

1 - I'm just pointing out that this crap tends to come in waves. Someplace like breitbart stumbles across old data and pushes it to the facebooks... next thing you know everyone's grandpa has "incontrovertible " proof climate change is a hoax.

2 -gain on top of a continent doesn't impact sea levels. One could also argue that despite gaining ice elsewhere, burning the ice away where it's been for thousands of years likely indicates a problem.

3 - San Francisco is becoming very wealthy. West Virginia is dirt poor. On net the USA is doing better than last year. Therefore no problem at all anywhere in the usa.

4 - look at the end of the article (also refers to 3)

5 - ?? The information you posted was only available because of money. Your statement is ridiculous. Without satellites and expensive measuring equipment you wouldn't have had an article to post but you're gonna claim that the other side is just trying to drum up money? If it were up to you we would have no information at all on what was happening to our climate?
