anyone else remember that long dead site? Gone a long time so not a competitor reference.
I think it was the first interweb place from which I bought cigars on line.

the premise was that every day they would offer a fiver. Ya had to wade through days of Petersons and stuff like that but here and there would be a great find. Bought several 5ers of AB Medalists there, only AB's I really liked. I seem to recall they were based out of St. Louis.

Their comments thread lived for months after they died. Wondering if this is deja-vous all over again...

Smoked an Avo Domaine. What a great cigar. The only problem I had was that the ash was flakey. Every time I puffed, little bits of ash came down all over me. The flavor was great however. It put most Cubans to shame. Maybe the flake problem was just this one cigar. I smoked Avo years ago and never had this problem. Being a cheap bastad, I will not be smoking this one soon, but if I could afford it....!!!!

That site was before my time.
I fell for Thompson's for awhile, but ran to cbid when T's wouldn't stop hassling me.
Cibd ignores me, and I like that.

Q they have 8 AVOs on special for 26.99 on Cigar.com right now. I wasn't that impressed with the Domaine and had no flaking problem, but the aroma after smoking on my hands was kind of minty. Good enough cigar if the price is right.

you're right, I did start at T...couple of purchases and done.
Today's Cigar never sent info out. But when they stopped doing business, the comments section of the site lived for many months.

That AVO sampler deal was at CI. T's annoying calls are a problem and I made it very clear to them that I no longer wanted to hear from them. The seem to have a unique variety of Gurkhas and based on the one I bought at their auction a few years ago- they were crap.

I find they are not bad when you go there in person as long as you refuse to be put on their mailing or call list.
