School Supply Shopping

Anyone else hate school supply shopping?

Had to do it over the weekend and it was the worst. Terrible list from the school, troubles finding exactly what they want based on the terrible list, doing laps around the store trying to find the junk, annoying/obnoxious parents, rude shoppers, blocked aisles everywhere and going to multiple stores because you can't find the right colored folders...dumb. Not fun at all. I feel bad for all the years my parents had to do it.

And all of that was for just one child. It will be torture when all 4 are in school. I think my wife will be doing it going forward. Forget that crap.

That is all, rant over.

Our schools link the list with what the local stores sell. It's actually very easy. We then buy at least double of everything that is "for the class" and tell the teacher not to hesitate to let us know if something is running low. I don't think it's fair for a teacher making less than deserved to have to go out and purchase supplies for the class.

Just now buying supplies? My kids are in their 3rd week back.

It was more frustrating than Christmas shopping...even worse than black Friday shopping.

That would be nice, wish the lists here were that easy. Part of what makes it hard is that there are a thousand different "versions" of each item and trying to find the exact one is a pain.

The school my wife teaches at now and where my daughter goes doesn't start until the middle of next week. A couple schools started last week and the week before. A few local schools don't go back until 8/30.

It never did bother me to go school shopping.

But then again when I went we would get the typical black 3 ring binders,a crap load of Pencils, Erasers, folders, standard paper and sticker labels so the child could label each folder for each subject. Then on the first day of school I would accompany the child to home room and hand the teacher back the list of their "SPECIAL NEEDS DESIGNER Sh*T LIST" and I would tell them "If this is required then you or the school needs to supply these items" It never was an issue after that. All my kids made it through school just fine and done exceptionally well for that matter.

I like to look at and hit on the hot moms school shopping.

Other than the public pools in the summer, it's the highest concentration of them in one place

Unfortunately no hot moms at the stores I shopped at...but that is most likely due to the main store being Walmart. Poor people of Walmart...I fit right in.

We also have to label EVERYTHING with our daughter's initials...that may not sound bad until they say you have to label every single crayon, marker and colored pencil. Dumb.

Go to OfficeMax/Office Depot create an account and do all of your shopping. Easier than spending a day looking for 6 different color post-it-notes or some other crazy chit that they want grade school students to have. Their prices are about the same as Wally World &/or Target.

Is this a deterrent from theft?

I guess. Not sure. Maybe to make sure supplies aren't mixed up. Seems silly to me.

Yeah no kidding, God help if the kids have to learn to keep up with their own stuff. But now a days we give them a blue ribbon just because their eyes are crossed and dont want to hurt their little bitty feelings.
