starts at sundown...and in honor of recent events I'd like to "replace" the tradition with:

HAPPY JEW YEAR!

Exactly what I said to the chaplain today. "The feast of crumpets would be more appropriate".

we went modern traditional.

did a dinner Wednesday evening, couldn't get all here Thursday evening, so we did second night here this evening.
Family and a few friends

chopped liver
knishes
round challah
salad
turkey (one night)
chicken (one night)
brisket both nights
grilled veggies
tzimmes with flanken
roasted potatoes
apples with honey
apple crisp
etc.
etc.

and wine(s)

not much conversation about the state of Judaism or the world in general. Mostly about catching up and news of those not currently local.
Plans made to break fast next week.

per usual, I am already a few days into trying to review my behavior of the year just past. Trying to focus less on asking forgiveness and more on forgiving others...not as easy as it sounds when pride and denial are in the way.

Them old calendar folks knew what they were doing giving us over a week to work on it.

1 point with spouse
2 points on Saturday with spouse...

just checked in Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin...never mentions whose spouse it has to be so, go for it.

Who cares... all that matters is that, thankfully, there were no latkes.

Manischewitz Blackberry (10% pure blackberry wine)!!! 11% abv...remains unopened, sad.
