Pray

MY brother told me there are about 30-40? Cranes of various sizes in MIAMI currently...

One just bent in half and is against a building under constuction....

Built to withstand 143 mph if let loose ( not LOCKED in place) and able to swing with the wind like a weather vane...

Takes a week and a half to take one down ...I heard...and my guess is PROLLY only one or two companies with the skill, knowledge and experienced manpower to do that around all of FLORIDA...

I understand they put them in freewheel mode so they act like a weather vein during high winds.

They turn on ball bearings about the size of a grapefruit. My oldest son used to inspect and repair tower cranes. He liked it and is comfortable working at heights but it involved way too much traveling.

I like people who are willing to climb insanely high to work ....that way I don't have to.

I hear that, I do not like working above the ground. When I was a Dam Operator many years ago we hung form manilla ropes to change gage boards fastened to a two hundred foot high trash rack tower, that was it, never again. Years later I managed to climb to the top of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station containment building. The ladder was between two large off gas stack ducts so I just looked at the concrete in front of me and kept my composure. At the top there was a fair amount of flat concrete to walk around on and I did have a fantastic view.

Yes thanks. My family was so worried because we just moved to Florida and this was our first hurricane. Of course its one of the worse ones. We made it thru it. I was trying to find a shirt saying "i survived irma". I guess the ppl making shirts all got washed away cause i couldnt find shirts anywhere.
