Missed that. My point is if it makes someone feel better then that is a good thing. That could be the person praying or having positive thoughts. Or the person that requested positive thought or prayers. If it is just lip service in either direction then I agree with you.

Yeah... but given that it's unlikely that either the dead people or the family members/friends of the dead people will read anything posted here... then it's just masturbatory.

So....even if true....why let it bother you?

I admit that I, too, think it's a bit silly...ineffective....self serving, maybe? IDK...but certainly harmless....and if a quick toss makes a guy feel better, who am I to GAF....much less complain about it ...If he starts leaving his prayer spunk on your shower walls, then take him aside in private and let him know you're 'irritated'...otherwise, I think its ok to stfu about it

I agree that most of you here DGAF about victor's opinion, and that is your prerogative.

but he makes a valid point...we as a nation have largely become complacent to mass murders, and have accepted them, however heinous and horrific, as part of our culture...just as it has become part of our culture to mouth the phrase "thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families"

At one point in my life, each of these incidents really bothered me...maybe because I feared that I would be confronted with such a tragedy in my working life. We spent countless hours doing workplace violence, hostage situations and active shooter training when I was working, so I was continuously thinking about those scenarios. My interactions with colleagues and students at work told me that they were frightened of the possibility that such incidents could happen, and thankful that they were taught some possible survival techniques.

Since my retirement and with fewer personal interactions with large numbers of people, the safety for whom I was responsible, I have become less affected by these incidents...just as I think most Americans have become numbed by them, for their own personal reasons. We've only talked about keeping homicides down, and want our police to catch the murderers, but we've never seriously considered homicide prevention, mostly because we've accepted that some Americans are going to commit murders and there's nothing we can do about it.

Not really, the issue get sidetracked by the control crazies that cannot defend themselves and want everyone to be just as defenseless as themselves. Throw in the ACLU as well as valid medical privacy protections then mix in a few defense lawyers and nothing changes. Wait, there is more, the 24 hour news always make superstars out of a POS that murders people and providers them with a scoreboard so they can compete in a death cult. They repeat their names and display their pictures and endless stream that only encourages others.

There is a group trying to deny these POS any notoriety: https://nonotoriety.com

People are not totally numb, concealed Carry permits are being issued in record numbers in stats where the citizens are still free.

Interesting read. I wonder if rates dropped in cities like Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, and DC where laws restrict the law abiding.

The President humbles a rather idiot reporter with some facts.

“Well you’re bringing up a situation that probably shouldn’t be discussed too much right now,” Trump said. “We could probably let a little time go by, but it’s okay if you feel that’s an appropriate question even though we are in the heart of South Korea.”

I am so glad the "Apology Tour" is over!

Absolutely and I'm guessing Japan and (South) Korea are both pretty happy too.
