Has anyone else had problems with CBID's shipping? I have been a CBID customer for 11 years and learned very early on that the best method to ship cigars from PA to AZ is USPS. UPS, FEDEX, DHL, etc all take from 5 to 10 days transit time to get the lovelies to me. That's 5-10 days in extreme environments from sub zero temps to Oven Hot temps. Hell, sometimes the cigars were destroyed before they got here. Then CBID gave us the option of paying $5 more for USPS shipping. I opted to go that route, as USPS gets my gars to me in 2 to 3 days with a minimum of Handling. Now I see that that option has been taken off their website and I now have several boxes of premium cigars being abused by UPS. It's a good chance that the cigars will be damaged and I will be screwed out of my money. I hope someone at CBID responds to this post with an explanation of why they would be so careless with our purchases. Rant over. Stay thirsty, my brothers.

Somewhere along the line they, I don't remember when, they switched from exclusive USPS to combined UPS/USPS shipping. It leaves Cbid with UPS and gets delivered by USPS.

When I lived in Northern Cal, Bay area, it took 5 days UPS. I changed to USPS and weekly shipping, Thursday, and my package would arrive on Saturday.

Two years ago we moved to Upstate SC, my most recent shipment took 5 days, left Thurs arrived Tues. Go figure?

I just got a reply back from CBID on this issue. They are not willing to change their shipping policy to better serve their customers. In the interest of higher profits for them and lower quality service for us, they will only ship via UPS Smart Post which is cheaper for them but actually adds a day in transit, as UPS must deliver to the post office and then they get delivered the next day by USPS. I was accustomed to paying the extra for USPS service, and didn't mind doing so. Now, they give me no choice on shipping. It's sad that a company which sells premium luxury products would have such callous disregard for it's clients.

I, too, had been very satisfied with ability to choose (USPS, in my case.) All went well for many years. I noticed shipping info last month said 'UPS'. I immediately wrote to CS and complain:

Order Confirmation #xxxx

I requested USPS many years ago and have had great results. Last week's shipment appears to have been shipped via UPS and subsequently lost...hopefully temporarily. I will continue to work with UPS (and my local USPS) to try to locate. However, I'd like to register my displeasure with your shipping with a different carrier; and hopefully ensure that any and all future shipments are with USPS.

Good morning dstieger,Thank you for choosing CigarBid.com. The Saver shipping is a more economical shipping option which allows us to keep offering the variety of products you are used to ordering on our site without raising the shipping rates for additional units. The Saver shipping uses the USPS, UPS, or a combination of both and will deliver in no more than 6 business days. We’re sorry, but we are not in a position to change this shipping service. If you have any additional questions, please let me know. Thank you, DamarieCustomer Service

I wouldn't hold your breath hoping for change

I continue to applaud Damarie and all the CS ladies, because they are doing an impossible job that I wouldn't touch. The rest of the company seems to be run by complete morons most of the time.

Ya, I used to have USPS on my account too. I haven't done much bidding on this site for a while. The bidding I have done, I lost... I just don't have what it takes to win on this site anymore. The other bidders are just too strong.

I got the identical response that you received. Here is how I responded to them:

I'm not satisfied with your boiler plate response, Damarie. Since I, the customer, am paying the cost of shipping, your reason to use a cheaper method is pointless. Just admit that you got suckered into a contract with an exclusive contract with UPS and quit blowing smoke up my backside. Please kick my comment upstairs. I'm not blaming you, but your shipping manager's kickback from UPS is not as important as customer satisfaction.

actually, it adds more than a day ... that added day you are mentioning comes only after a number of additional days have been spent trucking the product across the country ... USPS delivers to me (in the CA Bay Area) in 3-5 days ... the UPS/USPS combo takes 8-9 days ...

I'm OK with them using the least expensive method of shipping if THEY are paying the costs ... my argument is that if I am paying, I should have a better option available to choose from ...

Duhmarie is part of the problem, not a part of the solution... she is anything but customer-centric and is as personally locked into the UPS deal as anyone at CBid ...

I agree that UPS is complete garbage. They add 1 day to my shipping time at minimum. They also left my last package basically on the sidewalk next to my front gate for anyone walking by to help themselves. Why am I paying UPS to "middle-man" my package? They bring it here, sit on it for a day, and then hand it over to the USPS. This is extremely dissapointing and will definately affect business from me moving forward.

I don't mind the UPS shipping all that much. I just have them drop the shipment off at one of their stores and pick it up myself that day after work. It seems to shave off a day or two that way. I live in southern NC, and I get my shipments in about two days.

Man I miss NC, Home Sweet Home!

I get my shipments in 2-3 days most of the time. The fact that it goes through UPS things get damaged quite often. If you have ever seen a UPS hub matrix and how the employees handle the packages it is amazing that everything does not get totally crushed all the time. I will not use UPS for nothing that I ship EVER!

I can attest to this. I actually worked at a hub when I was younger. Not a pretty sight.

Was 1-3 days via UPS, now 1-3 days via UPS/USPS with 1-2 being more common.

I just wanted to reiterate how much I dislike not having USPS as a shipping option on this site. Cbid, why does it take 7 days for UPS to deliver a package to me when USPS does it in 3, FOR LESS MONEY! Thank you, have a great day.

Ya, I'm a bit older now, way past my prime.

My clicker isn't what it used to be... I think it may be time to hang up the mouse.

Let the younger overbidders have their day!

Ben, looks like I'm going to have to send you some rubber bands to put on your pants legs to keep the ants from crawling up and biting your candy ass.

Just don't send me the ones you already used... I have not, and will not wear a used rubber.

hardeeharhar...laughing at DED's re-running the rubber band line he slapped me with many years ago when I was a nood, talking about the nic-kick in some cigars...thanks for the memories...

Not a dig at DED...but it also reminded that when I popped in here a few years back, USPS was considered to be a laughing stock, an inefficient gubment waste of tax-payers money that should be de-funded...Fed-ex and UPS were the golden boys of delivery services...cycle of life...

My stuff ships on Tuesday and arrives on Friday. I've yet to have a problem with the condition of the product. To those who are willing to pay more for different shipping, but have been told to go fish, I completely understand your dismay.

with shipping times like that, you don't live on or near the left coast ...
