From a CBS report on his 2015 lawsuit settlement...

The government ( We The People ) has paid more than $17 million in taxpayer money over the last 20 years to resolve claims of sexual harassment, overtime pay disputes and other workplace violations filed by employees of Congress. The Office of Compliance released the numbers amid a wave of revelations of sexual misconduct in the worlds of entertainment, business and politics that made its way to Capitol Hill last week. Two female lawmakers described incidents of sexual harassment, one in explicit detail, and Minnesota Sen. Al Franken apologized to a woman who said he forcibly kissed her and groped her during a 2006 USO tour.

Is there ANYTHING that the taxpayer is NOT put on the financial hook for? We get to fund their sexual misconduct charge settlement fees?????

I MEAN WTF

It's a shame his wife couldn't have helped in his general behavioral issues...but then I guess she had her own criminal issues to deal with....

Tell it to the POTUS. Because all of the women that have accused Trump of doing the same things are lying but any women who has accused a democrat is telling the truth. You can't have it both ways. ram27bat

I particularly find Ivana's rape allegation disturbing. Any one of these would be enough to have people here calling for his head. horse

I'm having trouble figuring out where best to focus my outrage....there's so much to be pizzed about....

The fact that the shush fund is secret?
The fact that the accused are kept secret?
The fact that taxpayers foot the bill?
The fact that accusers must go through serious hoops just to accuse (mandatory training before process even starts, mandatory NDA, very short 'statute of limitations', etc.)
The fact that the very office that 'manages' this travesty is the “Office of Compliance,” which as a result of the Congressional Accountability Act ...can't even hold this up as ironic...just pathetic

Yeah, I find it disturbing that from your same article even...

"I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald. The story is totally without merit Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president."

Probably all of them...for a while...this wave hasn't crested. Not by a long shot. Even the most innocent aren't likely to escape accusations of some sort in the near term. Its a terrible by-product of this explosion, but there's going to be collateral damage caused by false accusers and right now, it is going to be very hard for observers to be totally objective. Is it an appropriate price for us all to pay to root out some really bad people and history? Not for me to say, but even some of those non-groping, non-assaulting are guilty in my eyes for allowing this to go on....and allowing it to be shushed and hushed

I hope that all the accused in the Congressional Office of Compliance Shush files will be revealed. They all should be removed from office and required to repay any settlement funds paid by tax-payers on their behalf. Does the reluctance of Paul Ryan to divulge details from the files provide a clue about members on the list?

Seems to me that women victims who have been mistreated in the past are now feeling liberated and encouraged to come forward. Kinda feels like a reprise of the first women's lib movement in the 60's and 70's, which started with throwing off bras, getting out of the kitchen and house, then moving towards open and free sex, and then demands for better and higher paying jobs. STD's squanched the flow somewhat...wonder what will signal the end here?

Wonder why Trump and Moore seem to be getting free passes for reprehensible behavior similar to that which has resulted in the destruction of many others: Ailes, O'Reilly, Rose, Spacey, Weinstein, Weiner, Clinton, Halperin, Louis CK, ad nauseam...

Hang him.

But I'd like to point out that this forum has threads on Franken, conyers, Rose...

but no one has started a thread on Moore... even though he was in the news before any of these 3... even though more people have brought more "evidence" against him... even though he's actually up for re-election to public office right now.

I literally waited to see if any of the usual suspects who jump on any democrat scandal they can would post about Moore... but no.

I guess we have reached the point where nazis and pedos are acceptable. As long as they're "our" nazis and pedos.

I think the ONLY thing that has some not jumping on him ( @ least not yet ) is the timing of his accusers. If he's guilty....prosecute the sumbich

short of prosecution is ok? If that’s the case Franken and the others should be fine too.

As for timing the timing on the others seems to be tied to Moore and his issue. The timing is funny all the way around.

This is a very hypocritical issue being applied selectively.

We have very much evolved to if it’s in my party it’s ok and I’ll do gyrations to justify it. If it’s in your party it’s black and white and there will be no mercy.

And it’s not just this issue.

And this is just one example.

It used to be you would watch politicians on tv parse words, evade questions, flat out lie or spin the hell out of things and wonder how they could do it with a straight face. Everyone knew they were doing it. It's bled down to their followers now.

It happens to some degree almost every day in here. And I have my bias as well. I can absolutely be a hypocrite at times.

Our politics have gotten really dirty whether team edward or team jacob. But its not just the politicians anymore.

After Two Brief Decades Of Deliberation, Democrats Bravely Call For Bill Clinton’s Resignation
November 22, 2017

U.S.—After a short twenty years of deliberation and reflection, Democrats across the country called for Bill Clinton’s impeachment and resignation from office, sources confirmed Wednesday.

In the wake of numerous sex scandals erupting throughout the country, progressive legislators and bureaucrats across the nation all courageously called out Bill Clinton for his demeaning acts toward women, going so far as to say they would ask for him to resign from office even if it meant losing valuable political power.

“We’ve thought about it long and hard over the past nineteen or twenty years, and we have now decided that Bill Clinton should in fact have resigned,” Senator Dianne Feinstein said, though she had voted against impeachment in 1999. “Now that we no longer need the Clintons to help us gain control of important political offices, we call for Bill Clinton to resign.”

Citing his lack of ethics and his “disgusting” treatment of women, Democrat voters joined their political leaders in calling for Clinton to resign from office.

“Bill Clinton should have resigned, definitely, now that we’ve had twenty years to think it over,” Brittany Molson, 42, a registered Democrat, told reporters. “It’s clear that we can’t have a man who treats women like he does in office, no matter what the cost is to us politically. He must resign.”

At publishing time, Republicans from around the nation confirmed they would call for Trump to resign approximately two decades from now, when it was no longer politically costly to do so.
