So, today I ride my bicycle over to the chow hall for lunch.

On the way back I stop at the Post Office. I have two boxes from Amazon and one box of Blanco Cigars, with their Hiram & Solomon brand in there.

I put these boxes on my bicycle rack and bungee them down.
I hop on and head back to my BQ room. A normal, standard, usual occurrence. Just as I cross the road and a little bump down to a sidewalk.... BOOM... I felt the load shift back, the back tire locked up, and down I go! It happened really fast. I had looked back to see what was up, turned just off the sidewalk, and hit a little muddy tire track ridge where a truck had gone through there before.

Nothing worse than watching a 63 year old guy taking a tumble from a bicycle, eh?? I was able to tumble through it and came out just about unscathed. First time I've seen the sky and my feet at the same time in a long time! : - )

My seat post had broken. The rack is attached to the seat post.
A friend of mine came by and said he had a couple of spare seat posts. But they turned out to be too small in diameter. So, until I can get over to the little bike shop we have and get a new one, I broke off the bottom part of the post at the crack and jammed the other part back down in the frame. And I was able to make it to work on time. Had to be at work at 3pm.

I'll be low ridin' for a couple of days!

Glad nothing was hurt but your pride. I think the smokes should help heal that. fog

Glad you are OK and you were not up to speed when it broke. I had a handlebar stem crack in half once, that was a thrill I could have done without.
