Don't have the patience to try using the Search function, but believe Wheel did share a number of recipes including his BBQ sauce. Remember him boasting about his grilling skills without having to stand on a milk crate to see the Grill.

I tried looking but although Bill claimed to have an awesome sauce, it doesn't appear to be something he revealed here. He did post up other recipes but not his.

He never posted it, I know that. But I was wondering if he shared it with any BOTL here.

It was a coffee based sauce that used "one pot of strong black coffee" that was then reduced somewhat. Sugar and tomato were in it too IIRC. Can't remember if he said that in an email or posted it here though.

There really aren't that many ways to make a coffee BBQ sauce while maintaining the flavor of the coffee and keep it palatable.

No clue but I usually do a simple sauce with sauteed onions, tomato sauce/paste and sometimes distilled white vinegar. You could add honey, molasses, or a dark cane syrup to that and come out with some kind of sweet concoction but sweet on barbecue isn't the way we were raised here in Texas.

I used to make my own sauce til I discovered Head Country BBQ sauce(a Texas/Oklahoma style)for beef and Rendezvous BBQ sauce(Memphis) for pork and chicken.
