Gangaroo's,

A match made in heaven. My bestie came to visit this afternoon and we decided to have one of the Fat Molly's before they had properly rested; only in the humi a week since delivery. Never being boys passing up the opportunity to enjoy good spirits we also opened and killed half a bottle of Jamison's (stout) caskmates. If you haven't yet tried the Jamison's DO IT, DO IT NOW. Sooofffttt as a baby's butt.
We both really enjoyed the KFC's. Exceptionally so. I expected much more in the way of over the top BBQ-ish flavors, instead I found it to be rather understated, not garish at all. I fully understand those who opine that you'll either love it or hate it. I loved it, but it will be an infrequent treat. We agreed to try one again in 3 months when we could be on the deck with sunshine instead of in my office. We plan to put a brisket in the smoker that day to celebrate.
I found it to be a bit sweet - in a savory sweet sort of way, the "smokiness" wasn't nearly as pronounced as I expected, staying well in the background and allowing some earthiness to come to the fore. Did not get too spicy, or overly complex.
Razor sharp burn line, no touch-ups for either of us. Solid ash. Did not get bitter at the end, and being a 50+ RG it stayed cool until I got tho the very end.

All in all, very enjoyable and satisfying.
Oh, did I mention a half bottle of Jamison's? That helped too. Been a rough week!

Half a bottle of Jamison's helps a lot of things. I do miss being able to enjoy such but that's life.

The KFC Swamp Rat or the Swamp Thang is good as well if you want an even more understated KFC. To me it's like a lite version of the KFC MUWAT, the candela wrapper sees to this. Something for you to try if you have not yet and are interested.

I think I'll pick up a bottle of the Jamison's.
