It was organized for The Mayor, Hizzoner, Jack Conrad, a CBid old-timer most famous for ICandi posts in the PicPosts, Everything Else section. He was in failing health, recognizing it was terminal (aren't we all) and was in communication with his friend, ZRX (that's his ZRX1200 behind the pile).

ZRX understood the gravity of Jack's condition, and wanted this community to recognize Jack's contributions over the many years while there was still time. So Jamie (ZRX) sent out a clarion call...

Jack was humbled and touched by the outpouring...if I had any skills, I'd try to find the thread he posted acknowledging his gratitude for the shower of love that the CBid community bestowed upon one of its own...

sadly, Jack passed away last year...RIP, Your Honor!!!

Thanks. I have the skills to look this up. I recall Jack’s passing. If the call went out while I’ve been active, I regret that I didn’t participate. Perhaps I should make up with Hamk and get in on this RAOK action. But, Hamk.

There have been some other great ROAK'S here. Wheels recovery ROAK, may he rest in peace. One to Stinger when he was in the sand trap. I am sure there are others, but those 2 I remember.

it was bittersweet. I will always admire Jamie for conceiving and making real a great idea.
RIP Mr. Mayor.

on a serious note, I've been here 10 years, more or less.

I've seen some amazing outpourings of love and support to some who just needed love and support...

of money and goods to some who were suffering from traumatic loss from hurricanes, fires and floods...

of prayers offered from our believers, and the power of positive thoughts from others for B/SOTL in distress...

of any kind of donations, cigars or other, to those serving our common American interests around the world...

this can be a drop in center of entertainment, a source of info for the best cigar deals, it can be whatever one wants from this site...but as my sometimes old adversary and sometimes old partner but always my old friend-I-have-never-met,
DMV says (sometimes! but in other words):

this is an amazing community/family. those of us lucky enough to have stumbled across it can tell stories that defy logic of what has been accomplished in a discount cigar forum.

Currently, I am a beneficiary.

I have said it once and will say it again. It breaks my heart to know that I came along too late to get to know the Mayor. If it was not for all you guys making sure his memory lives on I would have not had the chance to know him after the fact. I personally can not put into words what that alone means to me personally.

To see a group of guys make sure that this man's memory and others we have lost as well is passed along to folks like me well it just touches me deeply. I have always been very sympathetic and empathetic to people that I have never met or known. We work our whole lives to be remembered in some fashion. To leave that mark on people IMO, well thats what its all about. This is what keeps people like The Mayor immortal.

I have read many post by him and by you all about him. I like to think that the Mayor and I would have been friends of some fashion. Even the worst of relationships are relationships nonetheless. The worst of them are still very deeply cherished. Well, they are in my book. Good fights, Good Memories, Bad memories in the end it's all the same.

I have people in my life and had people in my life that even those times I greatly miss. Keep it up guys and gals and never let it die.

Ok putting my purse up for now.

Al, not be a party pooper but those boxes were sent to Jamie when he broke his arm:

I don't recall who organized it but kinda think it was Anthony / Abrignac.

Nicely done all, I never met this gentlemen you refer to, but he definitely reminds me a little of the grandfather I grew up with. He passed away from lung cancer in 1995, but not before instilling in me the necessity to care for family, friends and others in need. Perhaps I met the man through a surrogate, shall we say? Such people are what my father always called "The salt of the earth." About as down to earth as you get, and would give you the shirt off their backs if they felt you needed it more than them.

Upon further review, DD1700 / Dennis was the one who organized the strike.

Something else, I went through an awful break up with a crazy woman and I mean CRAZY.....then my arm and then my grandpa. Thank God things turned around much like my friend teedubya said it would. Only a few that I actually speak to knew what ALL was up, but this group is amazing.

The world is not Boolean, Hankster. And your understanding of cause and effect needs work. I gave you flack, not because you were trying, but because of how you were going about it. After the said my piece, I was to remain silent as you proceeded with your plans. But then you spam me with your love note.

You push my buttons, buddy. I definitely have some work to do on myself, as I’m sure the regulars are tired of seeing this. I think you remind me of myself in my early 20s, thrashing and sometimes learning.

Sorry, Regulars. I’ll get right to work on this.

My Bad...always good to correct fake news...thanks for getting it straight, Conan.

Poor ZRX was going through some painful recovery...right?...

iirc, dat clumsy azz fell outta his truck and broke a wing...then his grandaddy died...buncha guys felt sorry for him...and DD1700 got everyone involved...what ever happened to Dennis?

Abrignac also organized a get well card for ZRX that he circulated among the CBid community, for signatures and keepsake tagalongs...Abrignac/Ant also did the Wheelrite get well bomb and the stinger going-away bomb...

ZRX/Jamie did organize a bombing of Jack Conrad, though. Not sure if he took a picture of all the gifts and posted it here tho...and iirc, the out-pouring was similar in scope...

Jack wasn't in any shape to post it up, if I recall his daughter posted a thank you for him. He had been moved to a nursing facility shortly after.

Z, you surely made him smile. That in itself was worth its weight in gold. For someone who can come across as a hard azz, you have a large heart.
