I like it. I'm also good with testing out swim baits, but I know Al has a bunch and has used them in the past with success.

My personal philosophy is that your jigs worked, and if it ain't broke... unless you use a swim jig and start catching more fish, in which case I want one, too. Anxious

I've got a few swim baits of different colors with 8, 10 and 12 oz heads, but... I'm with Shaun...lets use the jigs you made for us last year...if they do as well as they did then, we're set...if we need to rest or shake out the cramps in our fingers, hands and arms, we can try the swim baits...

That house looks like the perfect place (too bad the balcony is off limits for herfing), and the price is right. Guessing it's closer to $225 a night with taxes and fees...bargain when split 4 - 7 ways. We gonna do the two nights (Fri and Sat) like last time? Drive up and check-in Fri afternoon, herf, drink, grab a bite, herf, sleep...fish all day Sat, fish tacos and herf Sat night: sleep, check out and head home Sunday?

Date set: 5/19-21/18

If we want the 12 hour trip, we'll have to do Saturday check in, Sunday fish, and Monday check out... would like to do 5/19-5/21 if everyone says yes... the total on the house is $744.. that includes an $85 service fee and a $125 cleaning deposit... $124/ person for 2 nights in a house with a kitchen AND 2 BATHROOMS is a pretty good deal i think...

Before we book the house we'll want to book our boat tickets... that way they don't charter the boat out...

I'm Gonna stick to jigs... i have no worries about filling our sacks that way... swim baits get tails bitten off easily out there so lead is probably smarter... I've got diamonds and eel jigs coming and powder paint on the way...

Here's the email from the house owner:
Hi Joel,
I spoke w/my husband. We do have a no-smoking policy in the house.
With that said & the liability of potential fire, we can allow it on the “front, first floor” porch or backyard.
It will not be allowed on the top deck or the 2nd floor, front deck.
Do know that you take full-responsibility if any damage results from the cigar smoking.
I have pre-approved you for now so that I don’t have anything on my dashboard.
Just let us know within the next 24hrs if u accept the terms and want to continue booking.
No obligation.
Thank u for the inquiry.
Sandee :)

Drafter, you'll always have a kitchen to remodel... but few are the Victor's of the world (809) and fewer are the chances to meet one... hope you can make it... the fish tacos alone will be worth it...

Is 5/19-5/21 confirmed?

I can book a flight and get in to San Diego around 11AM on Thursday the 18th. I can get a return flight out of San Diego Monday the 21st at 2:30 PM. Pretty much the same flight itinerary as last year.

Shawn, can you pick me up, put me up and get me back to the airport like last time? If so, I’ll buy my ticket today.

My schedule has changed, so I'll have to get some days off. If the dates are confirmed, I'll request the time off.

Last time we stayed Saturday and Sunday night, and left Monday. That arrangement worked well, I think. Nobody wants a 4 hour drive after a 10 hour fishing trip.

Ant - the 18th is Friday. If you arrive that day, yeah. That'll mean I just have to take Fri/Sat off.

Looks like a winner Joel! Do you know if the house has an outdoor grill? If so, I can whip up some marinated tri-tips for dinner Sat night. Might be better time-wise to have dinner at the house instead of going out...we can drink and smoke while we cook...

Shaun, you wanna drive up to Morro Bay like last year? Your truck was perfect...if so, I'll get the gas...

Are we locked in? Sat/Sun night? Or do we want to do Fri/Sat/Sun and drink beers and play cards on Fri? I need to know soon, since I have to request time off.

I haven't booked the place... wanted to make sure we all get our boat tickets purchased first...

I think the total for sat and sun night was $750...

i wouldn't be Able to get out there Friday until really late so probably not worth it on my end... I'm down to get there early Saturday though if you guys are already there...

Okay... so it's Sat/Sun night. I'll ask for Fri/Sat off, because I work those days.

Anth - fly in Friday, I'll pick you up.

750 split 5 ways is $150 each. That's more than the other joint, but it's a nicer house, so I'm good with it. As soon as my days off get approved, I'll book my spot on the boat.

Before you book the house, make sure we got at least 5 people. Dibs on a big bed (that isn't a futon)!

Planning to book my spot and get a plane ticket today.

Endeavor, 12 hour trip, 5/20...

https://morrobaylanding.fishingreservations.net/sales/usersignin.php?trip_id=522897

As soon as everyone books their trip i think i can book the house... everyone is cool with the price, $742? I looked around and couldn't find anything else with 2 bathrooms so this is probably the best we will get...

Don't know a damn thing about fishing...
But I have learned a thing or two about light at depth.... water absorbs visible light more at the red side of the spectrum.
Given that color is just the reflection of light at a specific wavelength (ie a blue piece of paper is actually absorbing light of all wavelengths except blue, which it reflects, a white piece of paper reflects all wavelengths and a black piece of paper is absorbing all... )
So the deeper you go the less red you should be able to see...because there is no red light to reflect.
Orange should be next, then yellow etc etc

So fish like black lights? Like their 1979’s stoners?

Victor, that's what i read... but red, orange, and white are pretty much the most common used colors... maybe it's different for fish?

Shouldn't be.
Light is light... past 30ft you really start to lose the light in that wavelength. I don't understand it completely, a fish that looks red to me underwater will lose a lot of the bright color in the camera unless I have a red filter on it.

So possibly the eyes are more sensitive to the color than the camera is.

Interestingly... someone mentioned blacklight. That's emitted at an ultraviolet wavelength... so yes it will penetrate water better.

Looked into glow in the dark powder coat.... $50/lb vs the $7 i pay at harbor freight... probably not worth it...

Macs - have you looked at Kast King braid at all? My brother got an 1100 yard spool of 8 strand, 65lb test for $45 shipped... we used it last year and no complaints... dirt cheap compared to power pro or suffix...

Hadn't seen it before, but just saw it on Amazon for cheap.

I'll likely just go to Turner's and have them respool all my gear. Likely soon...
